2024 Broad Street Run Service & Detour Information

    The Blue Cross Broad Street Run returns to Philadelphia Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 7:30 am. SEPTA offers every registered competitor a free ride on the Broad Street Line [B] to the starting line at Broad Street and West Fisher Avenue, located between Olney Transportation Center and Logan Station. 

    Added Service on the Broad Street Line [B]

    • Participants in the Blue Cross Broad Street Run ride the Broad Street Line [B] to the starting line (and back to the start or home) for free 
    • Participants must display their official competitor’s race bib number to a SEPTA cashier to gain entry
    • Ten [10] additional trains will leave Fern Rock Transportation Center at 4:10 am, 4:20 am, 4:30 am, 4:40 am, 4:50 am, 5 am, 5:10 am, 5:30 am, 5:40 am and 5:50 am

    Early Morning Regional Rail Service

    SEPTA Regional Rail lines offer service to Center City for race participants.

    • Race participants can take advantage of early morning service on the Glenside Combined Line to Fern Rock Transportation Center and either walk to the start or transfer to the Broad Street Line [B]
    • Early morning train service from Glenside and Jenkintown stations will connect runners to the Broad Street Line [B] at Fern Rock Transportation Center. Take the Broad Street Line [B] one (1) stop to Olney Transportation Center, where signs will direct you to the starting line area
    • At the end of the race, riders should take the Broad Street Line [B] to City Hall Station where they can connect to Suburban Station and Regional Rail service

    SEPTA Bus Detours

    SEPTA Bus Routes 3, 4, 7, 9, 12, 15, 16, 17, 21, 23, 27, 29, 32, 33, 37, 38, 39, 40, 42, 43, 44, 45, 48, 53, 54, 56, 60, 61, 64, 68, 75, 79, 124, 125, G, J, H, XH and R will be detoured from their normal routes beginning as early as 6:15 am through approximately 5 pm on Sunday, May 5.

    Getting to the Broad Street Run from New Jersey

    If you’re coming from New Jersey, it’s easy to transfer from PATCO to the Broad Street Line [B]. Exit PATCO at 13th/Locust Street Station. Take the escalator or stairs to the concourse level and exit PATCO’s fare gates. Follow the orange signs approximately one block through the concourse to the Broad Street Line [B] at Walnut/Locust Station.

    Convenient Ways to Pay

    Before you head to the Broad Street Run, load your SEPTA Key card or purchase a Quick Trip from a Fare Kiosk. Regional Rail riders can pay using a SEPTA Key card, Apple/Google/Samsung Pay or cash/credit onboard the train. SEPTA Bus and SEPTA Metro (Market-Frankford Line [L], Broad Street Line [B], Norristown High Speed Line [M] and all trolleys [T] [G] [D]) can tap any debit/credit card or Apple/Google/Samsung Pay on the reader and hop on.

    SEPTA Key card multi-rider feature allows up to five riders on one SEPTA Key card.

    Purchase Day Passes on a SEPTA Key card, available at SEPTA Sales Offices and Station Fare Kiosks; also available in 3-day bundles:

    • Convenience Pass (Transit only): $6, good for 8 trips
    • Neighborhood Flex Pass (Transit & Regional Rail up to Zone 2 Station): $10, good for 10 trips
    • Anywhere FleX Pass (All SEPTA Services): $13, good for 10 trips

    Remember to tap on, tap off. Failure to tap off results in the maximum fare amount charged (Fare zone 4).
