At Moovit, our mission is to make every local journey smooth. And because the majority of rides occur between the same places, usually along the same lines, we added Favorites to the app.
If your best friend has a grill, we imagine you will be there most weekends for the next few months. Add their address to your Favorites so you can get there even quicker to test out some of the Barbecue! Bible trends of 2016.
You can add both locations and lines as Favorites. After you add favorite locations, all it takes is a single tap and you’ll get suggested routes to your favorite place from wherever you’re located.
When you add favorite lines, you’ll get instant access to the next arrival time for your line, and you’ll also get automatic notifications whenever there is a delay or service interruption. If you’re like the majority of riders that take the same line every day, these alerts will let you know when something is wrong so you can plan a different route to get where you’re going without a delay.
The Favorites Tab
You’ll find all of your favorite places & lines under the aptly titled Favorites Tab that you see below. Notice that you can add multiple locations, view Real Time Arrivals for your favorite lines (where available), and even see recent trips.
Adding Favorite Locations
The first time you open the Favorites Tab it, will look like the image below. Let’s start by adding favorite locations. You have preset fields for home & work, and you can also add additional locations by tapping the “Add Location” button. For now, let’s add Home.
After you tap on the Home button, you’ll see this screen. Enter your address and tap “Save & Get Directions.”
After you tap Save & Get Directions, you’ll see the suggested routes screen. As always, simply pick your ideal route and use Live Directions for a smooth journey. If you don’t need to take a trip right then, simply tap the “x” in the upper left corner of the screen to go back.
To add more favorite locations, repeat the steps above. Then, the next time you need to travel, open the Favorites Tab & with a single tap on your desired location, you’ll be on your way.
Adding Favorite Lines
When adding your favorite lines, there are 3 key things you must consider:
The name of the line
The direction of the line
The station where you get on the line
To start, find your desired station and line. You can select this directly from the Home screen as shown below, or you can search for your line.
After selecting your line, double check to make sure you have the correct direction. You will see this right below the map—in this case, the direction is towards “Balboa Park Station via Downtown.” If you need to change directions, tap the double arrows to the right (below the map).
Next, make sure to select the station where you want to board your favorite line. In the image below, we selected the “Metro Montgomery Station/Outbound.” Tap the 3 dots to the right of the arrival time.
After you tap the 3 dots to the right of the arrival time, you’ll see the menu below. Tap the “Favorite Line” option and you’re done!
The next time you view your Favorites Tab, you’ll see the line you just added and the Real Time Arrival (where available). Now, whenever there is a service disruption affecting one of your favorite lines, Moovit will automatically send you a notification so you know to plan ahead and avoid the delay.
