WMATA Updates
Metrorail Updates:
- Metrorail operates from 5:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Weekdays and 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Weekends
Rail Stations
The following stations have reopened. (Three stations on the Orange and Silver lines will reopen with shuttle bus service due to the ongoing platform reconstruction work at East Falls Church.)

In addition, selected entrances will reopen at Anacostia, Farragut North, Dupont Circle, Metro Center, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, U Street, Gallery Place-Chinatown, Friendship Heights, and L’Enfant Plaza.

- Red Line trains operate every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes on weekends, while Orange, Silver, Blue, Yellow, and Green line trains operate every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends. Stations served by multiple lines have more frequent service.
- Yellow Line trains operate between Huntington and National Airport only.
- Orange Line trains operate between Ballston and New Carrollton only.
- Free shuttle buses replace Green Line trains between Anacostia and L’Enfant Plaza. Navy Yard-Ballpark and Waterfront stations are closed.
- Arlington Cemetary Stations remains closed until further notice
- Platform Improvement Project: Nine Orange and Silver Line stations west of Ballston are closed
- Red Line trains operate every 20 minutes, Orange, Silver, Blue, Yellow and Green line trains operate every 30 minutes.

Rider impact:
- Free shuttle buses replace trains between Judiciary Square and Rhode Island Avenue stations, with stops at Union Station and NoMa-Gallaudet stations.
- Consider using as an alternate when traveling between Fort Totten and Gallery Place-Chinatown.
July 26-August 1, 2020
Work zone: Fort Totten to Silver Spring
Station closed: Takoma
Rider impact:
Free shuttle buses replace trains between Fort Totten and Silver Spring stations, with stop at Takoma Station.
Metrobus Updates:
- Metrobus operates from 5:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on a Modified Sunday Schedule.
- Weekend schedules run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Mon-Fri: Buses arrive on a Sunday schedule unless otherwise noted. Sat-Sun: Buses arrive every 30 minutes unless otherwise noted.
Bus service realignment effective Monday, June 29
Metrobus customers on the region’s busiest routes will notice more frequent buses, less crowding, and more regular service beginning Monday, June 29. An additional 136 trips are being added across 14 routes: 54, 70, 92, 30N, 30S, A4, A6, A8, P6, V4, W4, F4, P12, and T18.
To make these improvements possible, Metro will temporarily suspend bus service on four routes that currently have extremely low ridership – NH2, C14, G2, and M6. Riders along these routes are asked to use other Metrobus routes nearby.
- Starting Monday, weekday service will be improved with additional buses on the 54, 70, 92, 30N, 30S, A4, A6, A8, P6, V4, W4, F4, P12, and T18.

MTA/MDOT Updates
Phase 2 Service Increase is in effect
Local Bus Updates:
- Effective July 12, Regular weekday/weekend schedule for City and Local Routes
- Local 38 and 92 remain suspended
- Express Bus Service remains suspended

- Effective April 18, 2020, at 7:00 a.m. to reduce the spread of COVID-19, all riders using public transit including local bus, light rail, metro subway, commuter bus, MARC Train, and Mobility/paratransit service are REQUIRED to wear face coverings.
LightRail Updates:
- Effective July 12, Regular weekday/weekend schedule is in effect.
- Light rail schedules can be found HERE
- Effective April 18, 2020, at 7:00 a.m. to reduce the spread of COVID-19, all riders using public transit including local bus, light rail, metro subway, commuter bus, MARC Train, and Mobility/paratransit service are REQUIRED to wear face coverings.
Metro Subway Updates:
- Effective July 12, Regular weekday/weekend schedule is in effect.
- At the request of Johns Hopkins Hospital, the entrance to the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center from Johns Hopkins station is closed until further notice

- Effective April 18, 2020, at 7:00 a.m. to reduce the spread of COVID-19, all riders using public transit including local bus, light rail, metro subway, commuter bus, MARC Train, and Mobility/paratransit service are REQUIRED to wear face coverings.
Commuter Bus Updates:
- Currently, the following routes will operate on an “S” schedule: 201, 203, 204, 210, 215, 220, 230, 240, 250, 260, 305, 310, 315, 320, 325, 335, 345, 410, 411, 420, 505, 515, 610, 620, 630, 640, 650, 705, 715, 725, 735, 810, 820, 830, 840, 850. Please check your route’s schedule for specific trips that will operate.
- Service reductions will be implemented on the following routes. Only specified trips listed below will operate:
- Route 201 will only operate the odd-numbered trips, during both the Weekday and Weekend/Holiday schedule.
- Route 201 Weekday – 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33
- Route 201 Weekend – 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29

- Starting on Monday, July 13, 2020, the following Commuter Bus routes will begin operating regular full service – 220, 230, 240, 250, 260, 310, 320, 411, 420, 505, 515, 610, 620, 650, 705, 715, 820, 830, and 840.
- Starting on Monday, July 27, 2020, the remaining Commuter Bus routes will begin operating regular full service – 201, 203, 204, 210, 215, 305, 315, 325, 335, 345, 410, 630, 640, 725, 735, 810, and 850.

MARC Train Updates:
- Effective July 13, Regular weekday/weekend schedule is in effect.
- Passengers are reminded that April’s monthly passes will be honored for travel in June. You do not need to exchange or replace your ticket – conductors will be instructed to honor April passes for the entire month of June. For passengers with a Transit Link Card, the April ticket will be honored in June for travel only on MARC Train, not Washington Metrorail.

Amtrak Updates
- While some services were reduced or suspended, Amtrak has and will continue to operate as an essential service as our nation recovers. In addition to the Acela and Northeast Regional, trains will be restored to service by monitoring demand, working with state partners, and continuing to prioritize customer and employee safety. Visit the Service Updates page for the latest information.
- To protect customers and employees, all customers in stations and on trains and thruway buses are required to wear a facial covering. Facial coverings can be removed when customers are eating in designated areas, in their private rooms, or seated alone or with a travel companion in their own pair of seats. Small children who are not able to maintain a facial covering are exempt from this requirement. Passengers must supply their own facial covering.
