A winter storm warning is in effect for Monday, January 6th for D.C., Virginia and Maryland. Road conditions are expected to be snowy, icy and hazardous.
Transit agencies are prepared for the weather with the following updates and service changes:
WMATA’s Winter Warning Updates and Service for Monday January 6th 2025
- UPDATE:
Metrobus will be operating in a Severe snow plan due to deteriorating conditions and impassible roads on several routes.Under this plan, 42 out of 193 bus routes will operate. As road conditions change throughout the day, service may be reduced further or added back as needed. For specific route impacts and more information on service, visit wmata.com/severe.
Currently, Metrorail service is on track to open as normal.
- WMATA is closely monitoring the weather and customers should expect disruptions to Metrobus service on Monday, Jan. 6, throughout the region due to snow route detours.
- MetroAccess will adjust service levels in response to real-time conditions. MetroAccess customers have been contacted and encouraged to adjust travel plans accordingly.
- Crews will be strategically placed throughout the system to respond to slippery conditions.
- The Metro Integrated Command and Communications Center will activate the Emergency Operations Command Center at 9 p.m. on Jan. 5 to facilitate rapid response to changing weather conditions.
Fairfax Connector Winter Warning Updates and Service for Monday January 6th 2025
- UPDATE:
Fairfax Connector service is suspended due to the winter storm.
- The public is encouraged to limit travel during the storm and exercise caution if travel is necessary.
Montgomery County Ride On Winter Warning Updates and Service for Monday January 6th 2025
- UPDATE:
Due to winter weather, on Jan. 6 Ride On will run on a Holiday Schedule. Expect delays and detours. Flash routes will use branded and non-branded buses with destination signs identifying buses serving Blue & Orange routes.
- Expect inclement weather delays and detours (service disruptions).
- Please check service alerts within the Moovit App, or Montgomery County’s Service Interruptions Updates.
