DC Area & MD Transit Updates & Alerts

    WMATA 

    Metrorail Updates:

    • Metrorail operates from 5:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Weekdays, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sundays
    • Weeknight service adjustments for Monday, March 22nd through Friday, March 26th
    • Red Line Trains every 6-15 minutes (6-18 minutes Thursday only)
    • NO BLUE LINE SERVICE – Arlington Cemetery Closed
    • Orange & Green Line Transit every 12-20 minutes
    • Silver Line Trains every 12-20 minutes. Addison Rd closed
    • Yellow Line Trains every 12-20 minutes operating in two segments: Huntington – Greenbelt and Franconia-Springfield – Mt Vernon Sq/National Airport

    • Weekend service adjustments for Saturday, March 27th & Sunday, March 28th
    • Red Line Trains every 12-18 minutes between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Glenmont only. Shady Grove, Rockville, Twinbrook, and White Flint stations closed.
    • Blue Line Trains No service
    • Additional Yellow Line service will operate between Franconia-Springfield and National Airport only
    • Yellow Line Trains operating every 15-20 minutes in two segments: Huntington – Greenbelt and Franconia-Springfield – Mt Vernon Sq.
    • Orange, Green & Silver Line Trains every 15-20 minutes

    Blue Line

    • Through Sun, May 23rd, Arlington Cemetery station is closed due to the platform improvement project.
    • Through Monday’s closing, buses replace trains between Braddock Rd & Nat’l Airport due to scheduled maintenance. Shuttle bus service provided.
    • Through Monday’s closing, Franconia & Van Dorn St closed due to scheduled maintenance. Buses provided to/from Eisenhower Avenue.
    • Through Sun, May 23rd, Addison Rd is closed & trains are bypassing due to a platform improvement project. Shuttles provided to/from Capitol Hgts.
    • Through Sun, May 23rd, no Blu Line svc. Use Yel Line for svc between DC & VA. Use Sil Line for svc between DC & PG County. Info: wmata.com/platforms

    Silver Line

    • Through Sun, May 23rd, Addison Rd is closed & trains are bypassing due to a platform improvement project. Shuttles provided to/from Capitol Hgts.

    Metrobus:

    Alert:

    • Effective Sunday, March 14, 2021, changes will be implemented on 59 Metrobus routes serving the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.

    Updates:

    • Metrobus operates from 4:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. on a Modified Sunday Schedule.
    • Weekend schedules run from 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
    • Mon-Fri: Buses arrive on a Sunday schedule unless otherwise noted. Sat-Sun: Buses arrive every 30 minutes unless otherwise noted.
    • Metrobus has increased its service from August 16 on many routes and the following week on August 23 will substantially increase service – For more info. see HERE

    Local Bus Updates: 

    • Regular weekday/weekend schedule for City and Local Routes
    • Local Bus schedules can be found through the link HERE
    • Effective April 18, 2020, at 7:00 a.m. to reduce the spread of COVID-19, all riders using public transit including local bus, light rail, metro subway, commuter bus, MARC Train, and Mobility/paratransit service are REQUIRED to wear face coverings.

    LightRail Updates:

    • Regular weekday/weekend schedule is in effect

    • Effective April 18, 2020, at 7:00 a.m. to reduce the spread of COVID-19, all riders using public transit including local bus, light rail, metro subway, commuter bus, MARC Train, and Mobility/paratransit service are REQUIRED to wear face coverings.

    Metro Subway Updates:

    • Beginning on Friday, March 12, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. until Monday, March 15, 2021, at 1:00 a.m., all Metro SubwayLink Stations from Mondawmin to Johns Hopkins will be closed for scheduled track maintenance.
