Denver COVID-19 Transit Updates

    Updates as of August 5th, 2020

    RTD

    • RTD public transit, as critical infrastructure, continues to operate for essential travel. Capacity is limited to approximately 15 passengers per bus, 20 on larger buses, and 30 riders per rail car. If you are unable to maintain social distancing (6 foot spacing), do not board. Instead, wait for the next vehicle.
    • Effective July 1, fare collection has resumed. Front-door boarding will is also implemented on buses.
    • HOP bus will operate at weekend service levels every day, with 15-minute frequency from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 20-minute frequency 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
    • The HOP bus will be rerouted from Pearl Street onto Walnut Street between 15th and 20th streets from June 17 to Sept. 30 to provide a better customer experience for east end retail businesses and restaurants.
    • You are required to wear a mask while waiting for and riding any RTD service

    Buff Bus (University of Colorado Boulder): 

    • Buff Bus Service has been modified in response to campus efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19. With the move to remote learning and work arrangements, demand for Buff Bus transit has been significantly reduced as there are fewer students and employees on campus.

    Bustang: 

    • Modified Service is resuming on Bustang & Outrider services starting June 28th, 2020.

    Amtrak: 

    • California Zephyr is operating as scheduled.

    RFTA: 

    PHASE 5 RFTA SERVICE CHANGES, EFFECTIVE JUNE 28 IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

    • Effective Sunday, June 28, RFTA will launch Phase 5 service plan, which affects the following routes: Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)Local ValleyHogbackSnowmass Village, Maroon Bells Shuttle and City of Aspen Free Shuttles.
    • Phase 5 service schedules will have approximately a 50% increase in service levels.
    • RFTA will resume front door boarding starting Saturday, August 1, and all riders will be required to pay the normal fares upon boarding regional commuter buses, however, CASH WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Passengers will be able to access the farebox in the front of the bus and must exit all buses through the rear door, when possible.
