Everything you need to know about fares in Moovit

December 14, 2020

The Ministry of Transportation’s new pricing method for public transport travel is underway.

Here are several things you should know:

  • Fares presented in the ‘Suggested Routes’ screen in Moovit demonstrate a single trip in an Adult profile. According to the new pricing method of the Ministry of Transportation, fares are based on aerial distance. At the end of each travel day, the final price will be calculated, depending on the number of trips taken. In addition to the daily cap, you can enjoy an additional discount if your travel fares add up to over 200 NIS.
  • Payment for your rides will be made at the end of each month, without any commitment in advance, depending on the rides you have done and according to the travel distance and profile type. The calculation will be made retrospectively, based on the total of the individual trips made daily, which will be compared to the daily cap, and you will be charged by the lower amount between them.
  • Fares for Israel Railways, service taxis, the Jerusalem Light Rail, and the Carmelit are not included in the new pricing method system of the Ministry of Transportation and therefore reflect the prices used in the existing price system in Moovit. Payment for these means of transport are currently not available in Moovit and will be added as soon as they are approved by the Ministry of Transportation.
