Every New Years Eve, Moovit updates schedules with LA Metro changes so you always have the most accurate trip directions and don’t waste time walking to a closed station or waiting for a train that isn’t coming.

Public transport is the go for New Year’s Eve. With more than 4500 extra services on the night, catching a bus, train or ferry is a no-brainer.

Crowds are expected, so if you’re travelling into the city, plan your trip using Moovit and we’ll guide you there smoothly.

Service Changes & Advisories

LA Metro

To help you ring in the New Year safely, Metro will operate 24-hour, overnight service on Metro Rail, plus Orange and Silver Lines. Free rides will be offered for all bus and rail service from 9pm on December 31, 2015, until 2am on the morning of January 1, 2016.

All Metro Rail Line Stations with latched gates will be unlatched during this time. Regular fares are in effect at 2am on New Year’s Day.

A One-way fare is $1.75 and includes transfers to other Metro lines for up to two hours to complete a one-way trip. A $7 Day Pass covers unlimited travel starting on date of purchase until 3am the next morning.

Note: All Metro Rail lines and the Metro Orange Line will operate all night every 20 minutes on New Year’s Eve. The Metro Silver Line will operate every 60 minutes during this time.

Foothill Transit
Foothill Transit will observe the Christmas and New Year holidays with holiday bus service and Transit Store holiday hours.
Schedules will change for the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays
On Friday, December 25, and on Friday, January 1, 2016, the following lines will run according to their Weekend/Holiday Service schedules only:
178, 185, 187, 195, 197, 269, 272, 274, 280, 281, 282, 284, 285, 286, 289, 291, 480, 482, 486, 488, 492, and Silver Streak.

New Year’s Day Friday, January 1
All BBB routes operate on a Sunday schedule.
UCLA Riders
Hilgard Terminal will be closed from Thursday, December 24 until Sunday, January 3.
Routes 1, 2, 3M, 8 and 12: All trips (day and night) will use the Charles E. Young Dr./P2 Transit Hub.
Hilgard Terminal will reopen at 7am on Monday, January 4.
Please note: Rapid 12 will continue regular service to and from Charles E. Young Dr./P2 Transit Hub.

All OCTA Buses will run on Sunday/Holiday schedules on Christmas Day: Friday, December 25, 2015
