Inauguration Day Service 2017

Service on Friday January 20th

Changes and Closures

MetroBus Service

Inauguration Day road closures will result in service changes for more than 50 Metrobus routes.

Pentagon Transit Center will be closed.  All routes normally operating to the Transit Center on a Saturday Supplemental schedule will begin/end at Pentagon City.

Due to road closures, many routes that normally cross the secure area will turn around near the National Mall. That means you may not be able to use buses to travel to destinations on the other side of the National Mall, but you can use them to get to Inauguration.

There will be temporary bus stops around the security perimeter of the event where bus routes will end. Look for the symbols on the map below for route turn-around locations. From there, you can walk to the National Mall or ask your bus operator for a special event transfer to travel through the National Mall area and secure zone on Metrorail. Please click here for all route changes.

MTA Maryland

The MTA will be running a special schedule with trains operating into Washington D.C. in the morning only and returning from Washington D.C. in the evening only. Regular weekday schedules will not be in effect and there will be no Camden Line service January 20.

On Inauguration Day, trains will not stop at Bowie, Seabrook, or New Carrollton on the Penn Line and Rockville, Garrett Park, Kensington, or Silver Spring on the Brunswick Line.  Passengers needing those stops should use Washington Metrorail.

All seating is on a first-come first-served basis and there will not be any reserved seating.

While every passenger on the trains will need a ticket for passage, regular MARC tickets will be accepted for all rides on all MARC trains on Inauguration Day. When trains reach a safe capacity, boarding will be stopped and passengers will be required to wait for the next train.
