This week will mark Memorial Day (Yom Hazikaron) and the 73rd Independence Day of Israel. We have collected for you several updates that are worth getting to know ahead of these days:
On Tuesday, Memorial Day evening, local ceremonies will be held throughout the country, which will affect public-transit service as following:
Herzliya
Sokolov Street in the segment between Jerusalem Street and Hadar Street will be closed to traffic in both directions, from 19:00 to 21:00. The following stations will be cancelled: Kehilat Zion/Mohliver 26906, Magen David Adom/Sokolov 21571.
Ra’anana
From 19:30 until 21:30, Ahuza Street will be blocked in the segment between Ben Gurion and Keren Hayesod streets. The following stations will be canceled: Ahuza/Ben Gurion 37055, Ahuza/HaMelechim 36613, Ahuza/Migdal 36615, Ahuza/Motzkin 37053, Ahuza/Ben Gurion 37054, Ahuza/Eliezer Yaffe 37057, Ahuza/Hashuk 37059.
Ramat Hasharon
Weizmann Street will be closed to traffic from 16:00 until 22:00 and the following stations will be canceled: Kupat Holim Mehuedet/Sokolov 20234, Weizmann/Zalman Shneor 26874, Weizmann/HaBanim 26872, Lamerhav/Lohami Hegetaot 26871, Kehilat Vilna/Yehiam 26873 , Hachayal/Yitzhak Elchanan 26768, Z. Cheshvan/Yitzhak Elchanan 26767, Bustanai/Gondar Avraham 26748, Weizmann/Habanim 26870, Weizmann/Zalman Shneor 26875, Shopping Center/Sokolov 20328.
Kiryat Ono
From 19:00 to 22:00, a number of streets in the city will be closed. Affected lines: 1, 15, 55, 68.
Tel Mond
The road in the segment between Dochifat Street and Ha’Narkis/Savion Square in both directions will be closed to traffic from 19:00 to 21:00.
Following this closure, changes will apply to the routes of lines: 112, 42, 43, 44. Canceled stations: 39400 – HaDekel/Ha’Narkis, 39399 – Hadakel/HaRakefet, 39398 – HaDekel/Ha’Kalanit, 39379 – Ha’Lord/Avni, 30467 – Ha’Dekel/Ha’Kalanit
Kfar Yona
The streets surrounding the Kfar Yona monument on Aliya Street will be closed to traffic between 18:00 and 21:30.
Affected lines: 138, 140, 141, 240, 241, 636.
Even Yehuda
From 18:00 to 23:00, some of the public transport routes will be blocked. Following these closures, there will be a change in the route of line 111 and stop 39330 (Local council) will be closed.
Afula
From 19:30 to 21:30, a Memorial Day event will be held – at the Beit Yad LaBanim plaza. During these hours, the segment between the Country Club junction and the Histadrut Yitzhak Rabin junction will be closed.
During Memorial Day (Yom Hazikaron), Wednesday, April 14, public transportation will operate on a regular basis, with additional service to specific routes and cities.
- On the Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon – Herzliya line and on the Rehovot – Binyamina line – the frequency of trains will be two trains per hour, in each direction.
During Independence Day, public transportation will operate on a limited basis, and with reduced frequency.
- On the Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon – Herzliya line and on the Rehovot – Binyamina line – the frequency of trains will be two trains per hour, in each direction.
- On the Beit Shemesh – Tel Aviv Savidor Center line – the frequency of trains will be one train every two hours, in each direction.
👉 In accordance with the Ministry of Transportation guidelines, soldiers and ‘Shocharim’ will be able to travel free of charge without uniforms on Egged lines, except on the service lines to and from Eilat, starting the evening of Memorial Day, Tuesday 13.4.21 at 18:00 until the end of the night lines service on Saturday evening 17.4.21.
As of Sunday, April 18, Israel Railways will update the timetables and routes as follows:
- The following stations will be opened for service: Holon Junction, Holon Wolfson, Bat Yam Komemiyut, and Yavneh East. The route of the trains on the suburban lines Netanya/Binyamina – streets will be extended to Ashkelon station and a stop will be added at Yavneh East and Ashdod stations.
- The operating hours will be extended on the Tel Aviv Savidor Center – Beer Sheva line (via Kiryat Gat, Lehavim Rahat, Lod, etc.), until 23:00 (approximately).
