Suspension of Light Rail Service in Jerusalem 🚈

Dear riders,

As part of the extension of the Red Line of the light rail with new stations from Neve Yaakov to Hadassah Ein Kerem, starting Sunday, February 9, 2025, there will be a brief suspension of light rail operations for a few days.

This short pause is necessary for system upgrades, the introduction of new train cars, safety inspections, and test runs along the entire existing route and new extensions, both day and night.Β 

During this period, the Ministry of Transportation will provide alternative bus services:

🚌 Addition of alternative bus lines:

  • Lines 500 (Superbus) and 501 (Extra Jerusalem) – from Givat HaMivtar station, via HaNevi’im and HaAgrippas Streets, to the Central Bus Station and back (these lines will not pass through the City Hall).
  • Line 502 (Egged) – from the Central Bus Station to City Hall (Shivtei Yisrael), via HaAgrippas, HaNevi’im, King George, and Agron Streets, and back via HaNevi’im and HaAgrippas Streets.
  • Line 503 (Nativ Express) – from Givat HaMivtar station to City Hall (Shivtei Yisrael) and back.

🚌 Increased frequency of bus lines in the northern city:

  • Pisgat Ze’ev lines – 22, 25, 49, 65, 66, 540, 541.
  • Beit Hanina and Shuafat – 274.

🚌 Extension of regular lines operating in the southwestern city:

  • Extension of lines 20, 21, 23, 24, 27, 29 from the southwestern city to the Central Bus Station area.
  • Towards the Central Bus Station – extension of the lines via Herzl Boulevard, to Jaffa Street (opposite the Central Bus Station) and to Sha’arei Tzedek Street (near Mahane Yehuda Market).
  • Towards Mount Herzl:
    • New pickup station – at the intersection of Jaffa and Sha’arei Tzedek Streets, near Mahane Yehuda Market.
    • Pickup on Jaffa Street – on the side of the Central Bus Station (Station A2).
    • Route of the lines – via Herzl Boulevard and the streets of Ish Shalom and Yafeh Nof to Mount Herzl, and continue on the regular route.
  • Please note that during this period:
    • Line 21 will not serve the Ramat Beit HaKerem neighborhood. Additionally, the line will start and end its route at Mount Herzl.
    • Line 23 will not serve Torah VeAvodah and HaPsaga Streets.

Please remain cautious near the light rail and only cross the tracks at designated crosswalks.Β
