Hi Mooviters,
🚍 Metro’s bi-annual service change will go into effect this Sunday, June 23rd.
The service change focuses on improved service in San Fernando and San Gabriel with additional service improvements to match rider behavior throughout the system. Metro also updated schedules to reduce wait times.
✅ Routes with Changes or Improved Frequency:
Gateway Cities
Line 265 on Paramount Boulevard will increase service from every 60 minutes to every 40 to 45 minutes on weekdays.
San Fernando Valley
Line 152 on Roscoe Boulevard and Line 166 on Nordhoff Street will begin operating service every 10 minutes during the busiest part of weekday peak hours — for both eastbound and westbound trips. There will be seven new trips on Line 152 and eight on Line 166.
Line 158 will add extra trips from the southern terminal at Moorpark & Van Nuys to Van Nuys & Woodman. That will increase weekday frequency from every 60 minutes to every 30 minutes on the core segment of Line 158 along Woodman.
Line 165 on Vanowen Street will add two additional eastbound trips during weekday afternoon peak hours.
Line 169 on Saticoy Street will add an extra weekday trip during the morning peak westbound and in the afternoon peak hours between Hollywood Burbank Airport and West Hills Medical Center — resulting in service every 30 minutes.
San Gabriel Valley
Line 76’s route will be modified to provide faster trips to and from downtown Los Angeles. As part of the change, Line 76 will have new stops along Alameda Street to connect to Little Tokyo and the Arts District, as well as a stop at the Little Tokyo/Arts District Station that serves the A & E Lines. As a result, Line 76 will discontinue stopping at Vignes Street & Cesar Chavez.
Line 267 will be extended from Pasadena to Altadena, replacing Line 686 on Colorado Boulevard and Allen Avenue. Operating hours will be extended until 9:00 p.m. to maintain the same hours of service with frequency increasing from every 60 minutes to every 30 minutes on weekdays on the former Line 686 segment between Pasadena and Altadena.
Line 268 will restore bus service to the City of Sierra Madre by extending the route to Sierra Madre Boulevard via Baldwin Avenue, Sierra Madre Boulevard and Sierra Madre Villa Avenue. This will replace using Foothill Boulevard to travel to and from the A Line’s Sierra Madre Villa Station. The route change will also add a connection to the El Monte Metrolink Station via Tyler Avenue, Valley Boulevard and Santa Anita Avenue. Metro Micro rideshare service will continue to be available in this area.
South Bay
Line 108 in the City of Commerce on Eastern Avenue will move its northbound layover location to Harbor Street due to Eastern Avenue being restored to two traffic lanes in each direction.
Westside/Central LA
Line 81 will relocate the northbound terminal at Eagle Rock Plaza from eastbound on Colorado Boulevard at Eagle Dale Avenue to across the street on westbound Colorado Boulevard at Eagle Dale Avenue. This change is necessary to accommodate the extension of Line 217 (see below) to Eagle Rock Plaza. This change will see two Line 81 stops relocate to near Eagle Rock Plaza. Two additional trips are being added to Line 81 on weekday afternoons to accommodate increasing ridership.
Line 217 will extend from Vermont/Hollywood to Eagle Rock via Glendale to make it easier and faster to travel between Mid-City and Hollywood in L.A. and Glendale. Lines 180 and 217 will each be scheduled to operate every 12 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes on weekends with coordinated schedules to maximize frequency on the parts of their routes that overlap between Hollywood and Glendale.
Line 602 will add a new layover location in Westwood at Kinross & Weyburn. The stop at Wilshire Boulevard and Veteran Avenue will be discontinued because buses will no longer be able to travel through the federal GSA building parking lot.
Line 20 and Line 720 eastbound trips that begin in Westwood will use Veteran Avenue, Santa Monica Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard to reach Wilshire Boulevard, as they will no longer be able to travel through the federal GSA building parking lot. In Santa Monica, westbound Lines 20 and 720 will use 7th Street to avoid congestion from roadworks on Lincoln Blvd.
