London weekend travel: planned service changes from 23 October to 8 November

October 22, 2026

Engineering works will affect several Tube, Overground, Elizabeth line, DLR and tram services this weekend and over the next two weeks. Here’s what’s changing and how to get around.

    London Underground

Circle line, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October: No service between Edgware Road and Tower Hill via Victoria. Use other Tube lines or local buses.

District line, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October: No service between Edgware Road and Embankment, or to Ealing Broadway, Kensington (Olympia), Richmond and Wimbledon, because of track work. Use other Tube lines, the Mildmay line, the Elizabeth line, or local and replacement buses. If you’re going to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, take the Piccadilly line to Earl’s Court and walk from there, or take the Mildmay line to West Brompton or Imperial Wharf.

    Piccadilly line:

    • Friday 23 into Saturday 24 October: Night Tube trains won’t stop at Earl’s Court between 03:15 and 05:45. Use Hammersmith instead.
    • Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October: Trains won’t stop at Turnham Green. Use Hammersmith and local buses.
    • Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 October: No service between Cockfosters and Uxbridge, because of upgrade works.
    • Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November: The entire line is closed, including Night Tube. Use other Tube and rail services or replacement buses. For Heathrow Airport, use the Elizabeth line.

Northern line, Monday 26 October to Sunday 8 November: Trains won’t stop at Burnt Oak while step-free access works are carried out. Use bus routes 204 or N5; extra 204 buses will run at peak times. Fares will be refunded for bus journeys on these routes between Burnt Oak and Colindale or Edgware.

    London Overground

    Mildmay line:

    • Monday 26 to Thursday 29 October: No service between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace or West Croydon after 23:30.

Use Southern services or local and replacement buses.

    Buses: Oxford Street goes traffic-free

From Monday 26 October, buses will no longer run along Oxford Street between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street. Permanent bus route changes start in phases from 01:00 on Saturday 24 October. Buses will still serve the surrounding area. Nearby stations are Bond Street, Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road and Marble Arch. Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road are step-free.
