Parking restrictions at New Hyde Park

    • Until Winter 2022

There is no parking along 3rd Avenue between Covert Avenue and South 12th Street. These closures facilitate the construction of a new pedestrian underpass and sound walls.

We expect that the parking spots will reopen by winter 2022. As an alternative, use the new metered parking lot on the north side of the tracks between New Hyde Park Road and Herkomer Street.

    Station Notice

You must be in the last eight cars to exit at Huntington

    • Until late 2022

The east end of both station platforms is closed while the Town of Huntington replaces the eastern pedestrian overpass. When complete, the new enclosed overpass will feature glass panel walls, brighter LED lighting, and CCTV security cameras.

In addition, the south parking lot is closed for renovation work by the Town of Huntington. The parking lot project will include 29 new parking spaces, a new accessible sidewalk on the east side of Fairground Avenue, drainage improvements, lighting improvements, resurfacing with new asphalt paving, and reconstruction of the southern retaining wall. We expect the lot to reopen during the 4th quarter of 2021. To accommodate this work, two staircases leading from the lot to the platform will also temporarily close. The remaining staircases, accessibility ramp, and access to the parking garage will remain open. During construction, vehicles must access the south parking garage by the southern entrance from Second Street, and the eastern entrance from Lenox Road. There will be no access to the garage from Fairground Avenue.

    • Through January 29

The existing platforms are closed while the station is renovated as part of the LIRR Expansion Project. Six-car temporary platforms are in place at the east end of the station. Ticket machines are located at the west end of the temporary platforms.

The pedestrian underpass is closed until the construction is complete. To cross the tracks, you must use the underpass at Post Avenue. Allow additional time to reach the platform.

You must be in the first 10 cars to exit westbound trains at Mineola

    • Until further notice

The easternmost portion of Platform A (westbound/north side) is closed while the station is renovated as part of the LIRR Expansion Project. In addition, the station building/ticket office is closed and replaced with a temporary ticket office.

Parts of the station plaza and parking lots on both sides of the station are closed for construction. To cross the tracks, you must use the Mineola Intermodal Center overpass located west of the open platforms. Please allow additional time to reach the platform.

Note: If you are riding the 5:33 PM weekday train from Penn Station to Hicksville, you will also need to be in the first 10 cars to exit at Mineola as this train arrives on the north side platform.
