How New Routes Are Named
All bus routes will be renamed. Routes will begin with a letter to indicate the area served:
- “A” for Arlington/Alexandria
- “C” (crosstown) or “D” (downtown) for DC
- “F” for Fairfax City, Fairfax County, and Falls Church
- “M” for Montgomery County
- “P” for Prince George’s County
- Limited-stop Routes are indicated by an “X” at the end of their names

Montgomery County Ride On and Prince George’s County TheBus Service Changes
Montgomery County Ride On Bus Service Changes
Beginning on June 29, Ride On bus service has changed as follows:
- Discontinue Route 10, adjust routes 34, 41, 42, and introduce a new Route 40, while WMATA adjusts routes L8 and T2.
- WMATA will replace the Route 10 with Metrobus routes M12, M42, M44 and M60.
- Ride On will replace Q2, 4, and 6 with Ride On 40 and 55. Please see here for more information on Ride On changes.
Prince George’s County TheBus Service Changes
On June 30, Prince George’s County TheBus launched its redesigned bus network. All new route profiles can be found in English and Spanish. Please see here for more information on Prince George’s County TheBus changes.
