♿ Accessibility
The MTA has set a 5 year goal to build a fully accessible transit system, making sure there is no more than 2 stops between accessible stations.
Yesterday marked the completion of four newly accessible stations!

😷 Need a mask? Just ask!
The MTA is providing all riders with masks (Visit one of the staffed station booths for a free surgical mask) Or locate one of the many PPE vending machines in stations where you can buy items like KN95s, and kits with masks, gloves, and wipes.
💳 🆕 OMNY: A New Way to Pay
OMNY is the MTA’s new fare payment system. This system is now available in more locations including the Bronx.
With OMNY, you can use your own contactless card or smart device to make fare payments and enter the system. OMNY will combine fare payments and mobile ticketing across subways, buses, and commuter rail.
Registering for an OMNY account gives you access to a secure, personalized dashboard. Using the account dashboard, you can:
- View your trips and charges
- Manage your payment methods

📣 MTA Phase 4 Subway and Bus Updates:
- There is no subway service from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. while the MTA disinfects trains and stations. The Staten Island Railway will continue running during this time.
- Regular weekday and weekend subway service on most lines.
- Regular weekday school-closed bus service on most routes.
- Restored service on express buses.
- MTA will be running an enhanced bus service between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. to help get essential workers where they need to go. If bus service is not an option, essential workers can use MTA’s Essential Connector program

Subways
- MTA is no longer making cash transactions at station booths. Use a MetroCard Vending Machine instead.
- The 42 St Shuttle is not running. Use 7 service instead.

🛤️TRACK MAINTENANCE
Jul 27 – 31, Mon to Fri, from 9:45 PM to 1 AM
6 Downtown trains run express from Grand Central-42 St to Brooklyn Bridge
Trains stop at 14 St-Union Sq.
For service to 33 St, 28 St, 23 St, Astor Pl, Bleecker St, Spring St and Canal St, take the 6 to 14 St-Union Sq or Brooklyn Bridge and transfer to an uptown 4 local or 6.
For service from these stations, take the 4 or 6 to 14 St-Union Sq or Grand Central-42 St and transfer to a downtown 6.
Travel tip:
For service from Canal St, take the J to Chambers St-Brooklyn Bridge and transfer to the 6.
Buses
- Board through the rear door if you can. (Express bus riders and riders who board using a ramp can use the front door.)
- Starting in August, you’ll see new protective barriers around local bus operators. When these are installed, you’ll board using the front door and will pay the fare as usual.

- The following Metro-North ticket offices are currently open with limited hours: ” Poughkeepsie ” Croton-Harmon ” North White Plains ” New Haven The following Metro-North ticket offices remain temporarily closed. ” Bronxville ” Harlem 125th Street ” Mount Vernon East ” New Rochelle ” Port Chester ” Rye ” Tarrytown ” White Plains Metro-North continues to accept credit card payments for ticket transactions, or you can use cash at any ticket vending machine.

Long Island Rail Road
Beginning Monday, July 27, eastbound Main Line trains (not including Port Washington Branch trains) will bypass Woodside Station while overnight trackwork related to the East Side Access (ESA) Project is performed. This service change will be in effect during the following times:
🗓️9:00 PM, Monday, July 27 through 3:00 AM, Tuesday, July 28
🗓️9:00 PM, Tuesday, July 28 through 3:00 AM, Wednesday, July 29
🗓️9:00 PM, Wednesday, July 29 through 3:00 AM, Thursday, July 30
🗓️9:00 PM, Thursday, July 30 through 3:00 AM, Friday July 31
As an alternative, NYC Transit (NYCT) will cross-honor LIRR tickets at Woodside. To have your ticket cross-honored, please use the main subway entrance, closest to the staffed station booth. See below for details.
Eastbound Customers Traveling to Woodside:
- At Penn Station, board a Port Washington Branch train, which will make Woodside stops.
Eastbound Customers at Woodside:
- Take a Queens-bound
train two stops to Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Av; transfer to a Queens-bound 
train and exit at the Sutphin Blvd/Archer Av/JFK Airport subway stop for LIRR service to points east. - Overnight: for an alternative to the subway, which is closed 1 AM – 5 AM daily for cleaning, customers can use the Q60 bus. The bus runs along Queens Boulevard, and currently operates free of charge.
Westbound service to Woodside is unaffected.
July 28-30: Buses Substitute for Evening/Overnight Trains Between Babylon/Patchogue and Montauk
From the evening through early-morning hours on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28-29, and again on Wednesday and Thursday, July 29-30, buses will substitute for trains between Babylon/Patchogue and Montauk as a track-testing program to ensure rail safety is performed.
Westbound customers: Buses will depart up to 1 hour earlier than normal train times.
Eastbound customers: Please plan for up to 1 hour of additional travel time.

Access-A-Ride/Paratransit
🚐 Access-A-Ride is not scheduling shared rides. (You can still travel with a personal care attendant or guest.) Don’t forget to wear your face covering. You’ll be helping protect yourself, your family, and other New Yorkers.
