    MTA Updates:

    Need a mask? Just ask!

    The MTA is providing all riders with masks (Visit one of the staffed station booths for a free surgical mask) Or locate one of the many PPE vending machines in stations where you can buy items like KN95s, and kits with masks, gloves, and wipes.

    The pilot program consists of 12 machines at these 10 locations:

    šŸ’³ šŸ†• OMNY: A New Way to Pay

    OMNY is the MTAā€™s new fare payment system. This system is now available in more locations including the Bronx.

    With OMNY, you can use your own contactless card or smart device to make fare payments and enter the system. OMNY will combine fare payments and mobile ticketing across subways, buses, and commuter rail.

    Registering for an OMNY account gives you access to a secure, personalized dashboard. Using the account dashboard,Ā you can:

    • View your trips and charges
    • Manage your payment methods
    • Ask OMNY customer service representatives questionsFind out more HERE

    šŸ“£ MTA Phase 4 Subway and Bus Updates:

    • There is no subway service from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. while the MTA disinfects trains and stations. The Staten Island Railway will continue running during this time.
    • Regular weekday and weekend subway service on most lines.
    • Regular weekday school-closed bus service on most routes.
    • Restored service on express buses.
    • MTA will be running an enhanced bus service between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. to help get essential workers where they need to go. If bus service is not an option, essential workers can use MTA’s Essential Connector program

    Subways

    • MTA is no longer making cash transactions at station booths. Use a MetroCard Vending Machine instead.
    • The 42 St Shuttle is not running. Use 7 service instead.

    Beginning August 11 MTA will beĀ doing extensive work on the 4/5/6 for the next 21 days.

    Metro-North

    šŸŽ«Ā Weekday Service on the Harlem Line, Aug. 17-21:

    • Regular Train Service Between GCT and Goldens Bridge
    • Substitute Bus Service Between Goldens Bridge and Southeast
    • Limited Train Service Restored Between Southeast and Wassaic

    For the week of August 17 – 21, Metro-North will run a weekday schedule on the Harlem Line, with regular train service between Grand Central Terminal and Goldens Bridge. Due to ongoing repairs after damage sustained by Tropical Storm Isaias, Metro-North will operate the following service between Goldens Bridge, Southeast and Wassaic:

    Maintenance forces continue to replace damaged power poles to restore power, signal and communication lines and are working toward resumption of rail service between Goldens Bridge and Southeast by Mon., Aug. 24.

    ā€¢Weekday substitute bus service will be provided between Goldens Bridge and Southeast. To allow for more travel time required during ongoing roadway repairs in the area, southbound buses will depart SoutheastĀ five minutes earlierĀ than last weekā€™s schedules.

    ā€¢Limited weekday train service will be provided between Southeast and Wassaic.

    For the week of August 17-21, customers with LAZ parking permits for stations north of Goldens Bridge may also drive to Goldens Bridge or the North White Plains parking garage and use their permits to park there.

    NEW HAVEN LINE

    On the New Haven Line, delays are possible due to continued work on damaged infrastructure after Tropical Storm Isaias. Please allow for extra travel time.

    Hempstead Branch Customers: Weekend Busing and Weekday Service Changes in Effect August 15-23

    Service changes will be in effect on the Hempstead Branch starting on Saturday, August 15 and continuing through Sunday, August 23, 2020 as LIRR forces replace a switch near Queens Village to improve service reliability.Ā Click hereĀ to learn about service changes on other branches during this time period. Ā Key Hempstead BranchĀ changes appear below:

    Weekends, August 15-16 & 22-23:
    Buses substitute for trains between Hempstead and Jamaica. Weekend customers can avoid busing and delays by using alternate stations, such as Lynbrook, Mineola, Merillon Avenue, New Hyde Park or Valley Stream. Hempstead Branch service affected as follows:

    Westbound:

    • Board buses at stations Hempstead through Hollis; transfer at Jamaica for service to points west. Westbound buses will departĀ up to 25 minutes earlierĀ than usual train times.

    Eastbound:

    • Board buses at Jamaica for service to stations Hollis through Hempstead. Plan forĀ up to 30 minutesĀ added travel time.

    Weekdays, August 17-21:
    Westbound:

    • Trains will operate express between Bellerose and Jamaica, with Main Line trains making added stops atĀ Floral Park,Ā Queens VillageĀ andĀ HollisĀ to accommodate affected customers.
    • TheĀ 5:41 PMĀ train from Hempstead to Penn Station will not operate.Ā Ā Instead take theĀ 4:53 PMĀ orĀ 6:20 PMĀ westbound trains from Hempstead.

    Eastbound:

    • TheĀ 2:05 PMĀ train from Atlantic Terminal to Hempstead will terminate in Jamaica. For service east of Jamaica, take theĀ 1:05 PMĀ orĀ 3:05 PMĀ trains from Atlantic Terminal. In addition, theĀ 2:14 PMĀ train from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma, which departs Jamaica atĀ 2:37 PM, will make added stops Hollis, Queens Village, and Floral Park.
    • TheĀ 5:38 PMĀ train from Penn Station to Hempstead is canceled. Alternate service to Hempstead departs Penn Station atĀ 5:13 PMĀ orĀ 5:51 PM.

    Travel Tips

    • Masks/face coverings must be worn on LIRR property, including at stations and on trains. While onboard, masks/face coverings must remain on for the duration of your travelĀ ā€“ this includes when traveling on LIRR shuttle buses.
    • Please practice social distancing by remaining six feet apart from other riders whenever possible.
    • Download the new LIRRĀ Train Time App toĀ follow the progress of your train, check how much space is available in each train car, and much more.
    • Look for LIRR personnel at key locations and listen closely for station and onboard announcements regarding track and platform assignments.

    August 15-23:Ā Infrastructure Modernization Projects Alter Weekend/Weekday Schedules

    Infrastructure modernization projects on multiple branches will alter train schedules starting on Saturday, August 15 and continuing through Sunday, August 23, 2020. The majority of service changes will occur during the weekends, but some weekday changes, primarily on the Hempstead Branch, will be in effect during the week of August 17-21 as well.Ā Ā Special timetables dated August 15 ā€“ August 23, 2020, will be in effect for all branches. A summary of key service impacts appears below:

    Hempstead Branch (Weekends):Ā No train service between Hempstead and Jamaica. Buses will substitute for all trains on the weekends of August 15-16 and 22-23 as LIRR forces replace a switch in the vicinity of Queens Village.Ā Ā Westbound buses will departĀ up to 25 minutesĀ earlierĀ than usual; please plan ahead and allow forĀ up to 30 minutesĀ of additional travel time.

    Hempstead Branch (Weekdays): Westbound trains will operate express between Bellerose and Jamaica, with Main Line trains making added stops atĀ Floral Park,Ā Queens VillageĀ andĀ HollisĀ to accommodate affected customers.

    Port Jefferson Branch (Weekends):Ā No train service between Port Jefferson and Huntington. Buses will substitute for all trains between Port Jefferson and Huntington on the weekends of August 15-16 and 22-23 as LIRR forces perform concrete tie installation and track maintenance work. Westbound buses will departĀ up to 35 minutes earlierĀ than usual; please plan ahead and allow forĀ up to 45 minutesĀ of additional travel time. TheĀ 12:55 AMĀ train from Huntington to Port Jefferson on Monday, August 17 and 24, will be replaced by bus service as well.

    Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma Branches (Weekdays & Weekends):Ā Some trains will departĀ up to 10 minutes earlierĀ than usual train times.

    Port Washington Branch (Weekends, Overnight-Morning):Ā Ā No train service between Flushing-Main Street and Woodside. Buses will substitute for all trains from approximatelyĀ 1 AM ā€“ 8 AMĀ as LIRR forces perform concrete tie installation work.Ā Ā Westbound buses will departĀ up to 40 minutes earlierĀ than usual; please plan ahead and allow forĀ up to 40 minutesĀ of additional travel time.
