Los Angeles Area New Year Service Changes

    ⚠️ Expect changes in service levels for public transportation on New Year’s Eve (12/31) and New Year’s Day (1/1).

    Everything you need to know 👇

    LA Metro

    • 12/31 – Weekday Schedule w/ Special 24-Hour, Overnight Service
      • All lines will operate.
      • Metro Red, Purple, Blue, Expo, Green, Gold, Orange & 910 Silver* Lines will then run special OVERNIGHT 24-HOUR SERVICE every 20 minutes until beginning of service on New Year’s Day Jan 1st (*910 Silver Line will run every 60 minutes). This is in addition to bus lines which normally run late night owl service.
      • Metro is FREE to ride from 9 pm Dec 31st thru 2 am Jan 1st.  Faregates will be unlatched during this time.
      • Downtown Long Beach (formerly Transit Mall) will be closed from 7 pm Dec 31st thru 3 am Jan 1st due to a special event.  As a result, Blue Line will run a modified service in Long Beach during this time.
      • Red & Purple Line will run with 6-car, full platform trains due to special events at Civic Center/Grand Park and Universal/Studio City.
      • Several Metro bus lines in Pasadena along the Rose Parade route will be detoured as street closures take effect from 7 pm through the end of the service day.
    •  01/01 – Sunday/Holiday Schedule
      • Longer trains will be provided on Gold Line (3-car/full platform) every 9 min for travel to/from Pasadena’s Rose Parade & Rose Bowl Game.
      • All lines will operate EXCEPT Lines 126, 127, 128, 154, 175, 176, 177, 202, 209, 211, 215, 220, 237, 239, 242, 243, 244, 254, 258, 270, 290, 302, 311, 312, 316, 330, 352, 353, 355, 358, 363, 364, 378, 442, 485, 489, 577X, 607, 620, 625, 645, 685, 705, 710, 728, 734, 740, 741, 750, 751, 757, 760, 762, 770, 780, 788 Valley-Westside Express, 794, 950X Silver Line Express.
      • This means buses without Sunday service will not operate on New Year’s Day.
      • Metro Rail plus Orange & Silver Lines will operate extended, 2 am late-night service.
      • Numerous Metro bus lines along the Rose Parade route will be detoured or split into two segments at Colorado Blvd. until the streets are reopened.
