Ready for the Victoria Harbour fireworks? Public transport will be running throughout the night to ensure you can celebrate without worry. MTR will provide overnight services on most lines, while bus and ferry operators have adjusted schedules for the countdown crowds.
π MTR Overnight & Extended Rail Services
Most MTR lines will operate 24 hours on New Year’s Eve (Dec 31).

π Bus & Road Adjustments
Extensive road closures will begin at 6:00 PM in Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, and Wan Chai.
Special Routes: Franchised bus operators (KMB & Citybus) will deploy special overnight “N” routes (e.g., NB2, NB3) to connect celebration hotspots to the New Territories and boundary points.
Detours: Expect most buses crossing the harbour or serving the TST waterfront to be diverted to major hubs like Hung Hom Station or Kowloon Station after 8:00 PM.
MTR Bus: Routes 506, K51, and K54A in the Tuen Mun area will be extended until 1:30 AM – 2:00 AM.
π’ Ferry & Tram Services
Star Ferry: Services between Tsim Sha Tsui and Central/Wan Chai will be suspended from 10:30 PM onwards to facilitate the fireworks display. No services will resume after the show.
HK Tramways: Services extended until 1:00 AM (Jan 1).
Central-Mid-Levels Escalator: Operating hours extended until 3:00 AM (Jan 1).

Check Your Octopus: Ensure you have a balance of at least HK$50 to avoid congestion at add-value machines.
Cross-Boundary Travel: If heading to Shenzhen, use the Shenzhen Bay Port (24-hour passenger clearance) or the Lo Wu extension (until 2:00 AM).
