⭐Tomorrow, MTA begins the rollout of the new fare payment system, called OMNY!⭐
Here’s what you need to know 👇👇
Ⓜ️ Starting May 31, you’ll be able to use your contactless credit, debit, or reloadable prepaid card, or your mobile phone or wearable, to board all Staten Island buses and the 4 5 6 lines between Grand Central-42 Street and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
Ⓜ️ OMNY will only be available on a full-fare, pay-per-ride basis until every subway station, bus route, and the Staten Island Railway is outfitted with this new technology. Until then, you can keep using MetroCard.
Ⓜ️ OMNY honors the same free transfers between subway stations and buses as MetroCard, as long as those locations are OMNY-enabled. If you plan to transfer at locations that aren’t OMNY-enabled, you should continue using MetroCard.
Ⓜ️ Although you won’t be able to use cash for OMNY in the beginning, cash will always be an option to access MTA services.
Ⓜ️ You can still use MetroCard until OMNY is rolled out system-wide.
