Penang Chingay. Delays or unique ride? You decide

Penang Chingay

It’s huge, it’s amazing, it’s colourful, it’s athletic, and it’s unique (although some might say, delays!)

Penang Chingay parade is happening this Sunday the 16th, from 7 pm to 11 pm. The parade will start from the historic Padang Brown in Dato Keramat Area to the Esplanade via Komtar and Jalan Transfer.

Route of Chingay parade

Multiple services may be rerouted

Most services from corridor 1, 2, and part of corridor 3 route will be directly affected during the parade. During the parade, buses may be rerouted to a different route, or experience significant delays. Please plan your journey ahead.

A good way to enjoy the show

If you’re keen to watch the parade from somewhat in comfort of air-conditioned space, try and hop onto any of the affected bus routes on the opposite direction (from Weld Quay to respective outgoing terminals). As the buses may face heavy traffic as they are approaching the parade, it’s never been a good way to enjoy the parade in the comfort of air-conditioned space (the bus) while other watching in the infamous Penang tropical weather.

Tips: Find a seat on right/driver side of the bus to enjoy the undisrupted view.
