Overview of Public Transport in Penang

Recovery MCO had been in effect since 10th June and life had almost gone back to normal. However, some public transport services may still not running as usual.

Here’s an overview of Penang’s Public Transport Services

1) Rapid Penang Buses

Stage bus services by Rapid Penang had returned to full capacity following the announcement from MKN that public transport are allowed to carry passengers based on approved carrying capacity. However, social distancing is still being practiced in all public transport services.  Real-time arrivals are available on all Rapid Penang routes except BEST once the bus had started its journey.

2) MBPP Central Area Transit & Penang C.A.T. Buses

MBPP Central Area Transit (Jetty B – Komtar) and all 13 lines of Penang C.A.T free bus services will continue to be suspended until further notice

3) Rapid Ferry

Ferry services between Butterworth and Weld Quay had almost return to full capacity. Ferry services will now run every 30minutes during non-peak hours and every 20 minutes during peak hours. Services after 9 pm will be running at an hourly basis until midnight.

4) KTM Komuter Utara Service

KTM operates 22 trips across Padang Rengas Line & Padang Besar Line since 6th June until further notice. Departures are as follow
