Weβve put together some updates on the changes to public transportation for the upcoming Purim celebrations.
π Dankal Light Rail β The Red Line
In celebration of the upcoming Purim holiday, the Red Line of the Dankal Light Rail in the Gush Dan area will extend its operating hours until 2:00 AM on the holiday nights: Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16! π
π Kfir Light Rail β Jerusalem
Due to the Adloyada celebrations in downtown Jerusalem on Sunday, March 16, 2025, the light rail will operate in a split service between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM (approximately), according to police instructions.
The light rail will run between Neve Yaakov (North) and Damascus Gate and between the Central Station and Hadassah Ein Kerem in both directions.
There will be no train service between Damascus Gate and the Central Station.
During these hours, for your convenience, the Extra company will operate regular bus lines between Ammunition Hill and the Central Station, both ways.
Once police approval is granted, the light rail will resume full service from Neve Yaakov (North) to Hadassah Ein Kerem in both directions.
Once police approval is received, the train will return to its regular schedule.
πΒ Changes in Israel Railways service
On the occasion of Purim, train traffic will be increased on Friday, 14.3.25 on the Nahariya – Tel Aviv line, and train traffic to Jerusalem will also be increased on Sunday, 16.3.25 (Shushan Purim)
Friday, 14.3.25, Nahariya – Tel Aviv Line
- Train No. 9032 from Lehavim-Rahat station to Nahariya will depart at 11:06 and stop at the following stations: Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Malachi, Mazkeret Batya, Ramla, Lod, Tel Aviv HaHagana, Tel Aviv HaShalom, Tel Aviv Savidor Center, Tel Aviv University, Herzliya, Binyamina, Atlit, Haifa Hof HaKarmel, Haifa Bat Galim, Haifa Center HaShmona, HaMifrats Central Station, Hutsot HaMifrats, Kiryat Haim, Kiryat Motzkin, Akko, and Nahariya (terminal stop).
- Train No. 9037 from Nahariya station to Tel Aviv HaHagana will depart at 12:16 and stop at the following stations: Akko, Kiryat Motzkin, Kiryat Haim, Hutsot HaMifrats, HaMifrats Central Station, Haifa Center HaShmona, Haifa Bat Galim, Haifa Hof HaKarmel, Atlit, Binyamina, Herzliya, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv Savidor Center, Tel Aviv HaShalom, and Tel Aviv HaHagana (terminal stop).
Train Traffic to Jerusalem, Sunday, 16.3.25
- Trains on the Modi’in – Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon line will operate in a format of two trains per hour, and the hours of operation on the line will be extended until 00:30 (approximately).
- Train activity on the Herzliya – Tel Aviv – Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon line will be extended and will operate in a format of two trains per hour until 2:00 AM.
π Shushan Purim in Jerusalem and Bnei Brak
During Purim in Bnei Brak, special departure points will be operated, similar to last year. In Jerusalem, the following lines will depart from the Arzim Terminal: Line 577 to Elad, Lines 457 and 458 to Dimona and Yeruham (with the last line also stopping at the Meshach Bridge), Lines 407, 424, 426, and 546 to Petah Tikva, Rehovot, Netanya, and Komemiyut, Lines 952, 956, 972, 996, 997, and 999 to the North, and Lines 992, 993, and 982. Additionally, Lines 492, 494, 496, 498, and 499 will head South.
Lines 310, 320, 330, and 340 to Modiin Illit will depart from the Shfa Chaim/Golda terminal from the beginning of service until 2:30 PM. After that, they will depart from the Givat HaTahmoshet terminal near the light rail station, starting at 2:30 PM until the end of service. Lines 226 and 246 to Beitar Illit will depart from the Givat HaTahmoshet terminal. Lines 451 and 459 to Ashdod will depart from the Har Hotzvim terminal. Line 289 to Kiryat Ye’arim will depart from the Hartom/Golda Meir terminal. Line 616 to Beit Shemesh will depart from the Hartom/Serat D’vorah terminal. Lines 636, 637, 638, and 639 to Beit Shemesh will depart from the Kiryat HaMada/HaRefuah Street. Line 556 to Kiryat Gat will depart from the Yermiyahu/Menahat Yitzhak terminal, and Line 555 to Arad will depart from the Gur Yeshiva/Yermiyahu terminal.
Due to these special departure points, starting from 4:00 PM, the following streets will be restricted to public transportation only: Shfa Chaim, Yermiyahu (from the Shamgar intersection to Tzafanya), and the entrances to Har Hotzvim β from Kiryat HaMada Street (from the Ramat junction) and from Har Tom in all directions. The private car parking at Givat HaTahmoshet will be closed to private vehicles and will serve only as a departure point.
Further changes to traffic arrangements will occur according to police instructions. Private car drivers are advised to avoid the area. The light rail in Jerusalem will not operate between Givat HaTahmoshet and the Central Bus Station from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
