SFMTA (Muni):
On January 23, the T Third is scheduled to resume rail service between Sunnydale and Embarcadero Station. Additional rail service is scheduled to resume in February and March 2021. On January 23, multiple bus routes will be extended & increase frequency to address crowding. Several bus routes will also be brought back into service and two new routes will be added (55 Dogpatch & 15 Bayview-Hunters Point Express). As of December 19, Muni Metro has begun to resume its rail service starting with the J Church between Balboa Park Station and Church and Duboce streets. As of August 22, SF Muni has significantly expanded its service schedule to resume or expand 11 bus routes, and increase frequency on 13 bus routes. A full list of the changes can be found here. Service hours will be approximately 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily unless otherwise noted. Owl network service hours will remain approximately 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily unless otherwise noted.

Golden Gate Transit is now permitting local bus rides within San Francisco in an effort to help SFMTA as it makes necessary service reductions during the current COVID-19 pandemic. For more information, click here(opens in a new window).
Fares & Boarding: Face coverings are required for people in San Francisco when waiting for or riding transit. Backdoor boarding is now required on all vehicles, except for passengers in wheelchairs or with other accessibility needs. SFMTA is also offering an Essential Trip Card to help seniors and people with disabilities take and pay for essential trips in taxis during the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information, click here.
BART:
As of September 14, BART’s schedule has been updated to add more frequency during peak commute times on several lines. Commute trains at 15-minute frequencies have been added to most lines as well as other adjustments to the schedule including 30-minute frequencies on Saturday and Sunday to reflect current ridership levels. The Berryessa and Milpitas stations opened on June 13. Minor schedule changes have also been implemented for the first hour of service on the Green and Orange lines. For more information, click here. As of Monday, June 8, BART has added 3 trains to the morning and afternoon commute on the Yellow Line between Pleasant Hill to Daly City. Weekday service is running every 30 minutes systemwide all day between 5:00 AM and 9:00 PM with 3-line service beginning earlier in the evening. The weekend service has been reduced from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Regular weekend train frequency will remain.
Service on all 13 Early Bird Express (EBX) bus routes has been reduced or discontinued until further notice. The following routes have been discontinued; 703, 707, 708, 709, 712, and 715. Routes 701, 702, 704, 705, 706, 713, and 714 are continuing to run with a reduced number of trips. For more information, click here.

Fares & Boarding: County health orders in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, and San Mateo require all riders to wear face coverings inside BART stations and on-board trains. Enforcement begins Wednesday, April 22, 2020. For more information, click here.
AC Transit:
AC Transit service changes effective December 20, 2020, will focus on improving reliability and service quality, and include the following initiatives:
- Service additions on lines 20, 52, 57, 86, and O
- Revised operation on Line 21 due to the suspension of the Harbor Bay Ferry Service
- Minor scheduled changes on lines 1T, 6, 10, 12, 14, 18, 28, 33, 40, 41, 51B, 54, 56, 65, 70, 71, 72, 72M, 73, 74, 200, 210, 232, 239, 251, 376, 800, 801, 802, 851, F and NL
- Supplementary Service to schools remains suspended until further notice. More info.
As of August 9, AC Transit has started its multi-phase reopening that will restore service to 75% of pre-pandemic levels. For a full list of these scheduled service changes, click here.

As of Sunday, June 14, AC Transit has implemented minor service adjustments to its Sunday schedule. For more information, click here. AC Transit is operating a modified service schedule in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although similar to the existing Sunday service, arrival times will differ from it. In addition to the modified schedule, all 600-series bus lines have been temporarily suspended. For more information, click here.

Fares & Boarding: AC Transit has resumed fare collection as of October 19th. Fare payment for the Tempo rapid bus service has started as of November 9. All buses with multiple doors will be boarded from the rear-door. If a bus nears capacity, our operators may bypass stops and display “Drop-Off Only”. Riders on board can continue to exit buses at their requested stop. Effective immediately, AC Transit is requiring riders to wear a face-covering that covers the nose and mouth when at bus stops or onboard.
ACE:
Saturday service and ACE 05, 06, 07 & 10 are temporarily suspended. The shuttle services for these trains are also suspended. Train sizes have been reduced. For more information, click here.
Fares & Boarding: ACE has suspended in-person ticket sales at the Lathrop/Manteca and Tracy stations. ACE will continue to offer in-person ticket sales at their Stockton station in the morning and evening and our Pleasanton station in the morning.
Caltrain:
The Atherton station has permanently closed as of December 19th. As of Monday, December 14, Caltrain has started operating on a new schedule. The new schedule provides 68 trains during the weekday, with two trains per hour, per direction running throughout the day. Caltrain will now provide hourly Local service on weekends instead of the current 90 minute frequency. Weekend Baby Bullet service will be discontinued. Train service will be extended to the Tamien station, eliminating the weekend and holiday Tamien-San Jose Diridon Shuttle. The weekend changes also include a separate schedule for Saturdays and Sundays to maintain connections from/to Millbrae BART. For more information, click here.
Fares & Boarding: Caltrain passengers are required to wear face coverings until further notice. There are no changes to fares and boarding at this time. Caltrain is strongly encouraging all passengers to wear face-covering while on transit.
Capitol Corridor:
As of October 12, the Davis, Martinez, Emeryville, and San Jose stations are operating under new hours. As of September 10, bus service has been restored to the three northernmost bus stops on service from Martinez to Eureka (McKinleyville-Airport, Arcata-Transit Plaza Depart, & Eureka-Denny’s Depart). As of August 15, Capitol Corridor has reinstated limited connecting bus service between Emeryville and San Francisco. For more information, click here. Capitol Corridor is currently running eight weekday round trips, with five of these round trips serving stations south of Oakland Jack London Square to San Jose. Weekend service will remain at five round trips, and schedule times will be modified to align with ridership demand. For more information, click here.
Fares & Boarding: Face coverings are required on all trains, buses, and at stations. Effective immediately and until further notice, the Capitol Corridor is only taking cashless payments in stations and onboard trains.
County Connection:
Winter service changes have taken effect as of October 4, and include schedule adjustments to Routes 4, 6, 7, 35, 92X, 93X, 95X, 96X, 310, 311, 314, 316, 320, 321, & 335. For more information, click here.
Express service, with the exception of Routes 91X, 92X, 93X, 95X, 96X, 97X, 98X, and 99X, have been suspended. Routes 250, 260, and the 600-series service will continue to be suspended until schools are back in session. Select weekend evening trips on bus routes 4, 310, 314, and 316 have been canceled. Early Bird Express Routes 712 and 715 have been canceled until further notice. AC Transit will continue to operate early morning service Routes 701 and 702 to the Salesforce Transit Center. AC Transit Route 701 will leave Pittsburg/Bay Point BART at 3:52 am and 4:05 am. AC Transit Route 702 will leave Pleasant Hill BART at 4:04 am. For more information, click here.
Fares & Boarding: Fare collection has resumed on November 1st. For more information, click here. The county of Contra Costa is requiring members of the public to wear facial coverings in public. Members of the public must wear a mask when they wait in line or ride public transportation. For more information, click here. Fare collection has been suspended on all routes including paratransit.
Dumbarton Express:

Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST):
Current Service Changes: As of July 6, new schedules have been implemented for SolanoExpress and FAST local services. To view the updated schedules, click here.
Fares & Boarding: Fares & Boarding: FAST is recommending all riders wear face coverings while riding FAST or SolanoExpress routes. Fare collection has been temporarily suspended on local buses and the paratransit DART service. All local routes will be boarded through the rear door unless riders require priority seating or a wheelchair ramp.
Golden Gate Transit:
Effective December 13, Golden Gate Transit has made the following scheduling changes: Service on routes 4 & 18 will be suspended, service on routes 27, 54, & 72 will be modified, and service for routes 30, 40, 70, 72 & 101 will be reduced.
All service on commute Routes, 2, 4C, 8, 24, 24C, 24X, 25, 38, 38A, 40X, 54C, 56X, 58, 72X, 74, 76, 92 and 101X are suspended. Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry are limiting the number of passengers on its buses and ferries to ensure compliance with social distancing public health orders. Wheels Bus (Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority):
LAVTA weekday service is operating on a weekend service schedule except for Rapid routes. Service after 11:00 PM has been discontinued. Routes 2, 11, 20X, 70X and 580X are cancelled. Alternative service will be available via route 30R and LAVTA’s GoDublin program. Rapid Routes 10R and 30R are operating on a 30-minute frequency during hours when 15-minute frequency was previously offered. The 500 & 600-series school service bus lines have been suspended. Fares & Boarding: As of October 1, LAVTA has resumed charging fares for all Wheels, Rapid and Dial-a-Ride paratransit services. Effective immediately, face masks or coverings are required for all transit passengers.
Marin Transit:
Effective Sunday, October 18, Route 135 will begin operations on Sundays. As of September 13, several service adjustments were implemented on routes 22, 61, and 223. For more information, click here.
As of August 10, Marin Transit has added four new supplemental routes to connect passengers with their destinations more quickly. For more information, click here.

Monterey-Salinas Transit:
Effective November 14, 2020
- Line 1: Added morning weekday trips.
- Line 11: Added weekday afternoon trip starting at Carmel Rancho.
- Line 20: Increased weekend afternoon service frequency to every 30 minutes.
- Line 23: Added afternoon weekend trips to King City with added weekend service from Soledad to Northridge in the mornings.
- Line 24: Added weekday morning trips from Rippling River and an afternoon trip from Carmel Rancho to Monterey Transit Plaza. Minor adjustments to holiday routing and schedules.
- Line 41: Increased weekend service to operate every 15 minutes from 9:35 am – 5:04 pm.
- Line 61: Added weekday morning trips.
Petaluma Transit:
Fare collection is currently suspended, but will resume on February 1st. Passengers will board through the rear door of buses. Front door boarding will only be reserved for passengers who need the ramp or priority seating. As of April 17, the County of Sonoma is requiring members of the public to wear facial coverings in public. For more information, click here.
SamTrans:
As of January 17, Route 250 has gone back to running every 30 minutes, and has resumed service to the College of San Mateo (CSM). Routes 260 and 294 have also gone back to stopping at CSM, and will run once per hour. Routes 17, 110 and 295 have also been slightly adjusted to improve the efficiency of the system. For more information, click here. As of Sunday, September 27, Route 17 will have a new Southbound trip that will depart Linda Mar Park and Ride at 8:55 PM and terminate at Main/Poplar on weekdays. Drop-offs after Main/Poplar are by request only. To view updated schedules, click here. As of August 16, SamTrans has increased service and implemented a modified schedule. The new schedule restores more frequent service on 14 routes, including ECR, 120, 130, and 292, to accommodate increased ridership and allow for physical distancing onboard. Fares & Boarding: Fare payment on fixed-route and paratransit services have resumed as of August 16. This includes the resumption of front-door boarding. Customers are encouraged to use contactless payment methods when riding SamTrans.
Santa Cruz Metro:
Winter schedule in service effective December 10. More info. Mandatory Face Covering: No Mask, No Ride (unless exempt, which a face shield will be required) Maximum of 10 – 15 passengers per size of METRO bus: Per the Santa Clara County Public Health Order, Hwy 17 bus capacity is limited to 8 passengers plus 2 ADA seats.
Santa Rosa CityBus:
Effective Sunday, November 1, Santa Rosa CityBus will begin operating on a new weekend schedule. For more information on these changes, click here.
As of Monday, August 3, Santa Rosa CityBus is operating on a new weekday service schedule. The new schedule will increase frequency to help passengers maintain social distancing on all trips. To view an updated schedule, click here.
Fares & Boarding: Santa Rosa CityBus and Santa Rosa Paratransit will resume fare collections effective Monday, February 1, 2021.
SF Bay Ferry:
Midday ferry service for the Alameda/Oakland Routes has resumed as of November 16. For more information, click here. Ferry service is currently suspended on the Harbor Bay and South San Francisco routes and reduced on the Vallejo, Alameda/Oakland and Richmond routes. There is no service to Pier 41 S.F. or Mare Island. For more information and updated schedules, click here.
Fares & Boarding: Passengers over the age of 12 are required to wear masks or face coverings while boarding and onboard the SF Bay Ferry.
SMART:
SMART is operating on a modified weekday schedule. The modified weekday schedule will operate 16 train trips per day, serving all stations, and will remain in effect until further notice. SolTrans:
As of Sunday, July 5, SolTrans has increased frequency by two extra trips at the end of the day during the week. The yellow and red line will also modify its schedule to add trips and modify departure times. The 82 will be reinstated. For more information, click here. SolTrans has reduced Local, SolanoExpress and Paratransit service on Saturdays. Routes 12, 15, 17, 38, and 82 have been temporarily suspended. Routes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 will no longer operate on weekends. The agency will be running an enhanced Sunday schedule on Saturdays. Fares & Boarding: Effective June 15, SolTrans has resumed fare collection on all Local, SolanoExpress, and Paratransit services. SolTrans is requiring all riders to wear a facial covering while boarding and riding the bus, this requirement does not apply to children under the age of 5 or to individuals who are unable to wear a face-covering due to a medical condition, For riders who do not already have one, face masks will be distributed on-board buses for a limited time.
Sonoma County Transit:
As of December 14th, Sonoma County Transit has introduced revised schedules on routes 30, 32, 40 & 68. For more information, click here. Local routes 10, 12, 14, 24, 28, 32, 66, & 67 are operating on their Weekday schedules. Routes 20 & 60 are operating on their Daily schedule. Fares & Boarding: Fare collection is currently suspended on Sonoma County Transit and Sonoma County Paratransit and will resume on February 1st except the following lines which will remain free: 10, 12, 14, 24, 28, 32, 66, 67 & 68
Tideline:
All service from Berkeley to San Francisco has been suspended.
Tri Delta Transit:
Tri Delta Transit timetables will be temporarily adjusted and this new schedule will be in effect Sunday, November 8, 2020. For more information, click here.
Tri Delta Transit has reduced the frequency of its regular schedule with most routes operating every hour. For more information, click here. To view a schedule of the changes, click here. As of April 26, Early Bird Route 709 has been discontinued.
Fares & Boarding: Fare collection and front door boarding will resume on January 1, 2021. Currently, fare collection has been suspended on all buses. All buses will be boarded through the rear door unless riders require a wheelchair ramp. Effective immediately, all riders are required to wear a mask or face covering in order to board any of the Tri Delta Transit buses.
Union City Transit:
As of July 5, Routes 7, 8, and 9 have been suspended. Riders can use Routes 1, 2, 3, 4. and 5 along with AC Transit Lines 41, 56, and 97 to reach their destination. For more information, click here. Weekday supplemental school service has been suspended.
Fares & Boarding: Per the Alameda County Health Officer Order 20-08, all passengers are required to cover their faces. Paratransit riders may be asked additional health questions before boarding the vehicle.
VINE:
The American Canyon & St. Helena Loops have resumed service as of October 26. The St. Helena Shuttle and the Calistoga Shuttle have been reinstated as of 10/8. Route 10 has also resumed full service. For more information, click here. Route 21 & Yountville Trolley have been reinstated. Routes 11, 29, City of Napa On-Demand, and the American Canyon Shuttle will continue to operate normally. No service on Routes 10X and 11X. Route 10 will not stop at the Veterans Home. Napa Valley College will not be served unless requested by a passenger. For more information, click here. Routes A through H has transition from fixed route to “stop to stop on demand”. Fares & Boarding: Fare collection has resumed on September 13 on all Vine services. For more information, click here. The use of face coverings is now required onboard all Vine vehicles. All fares for Vine buses, community shuttles, and para-transit service will be waived until further notice. All buses will be boarded through the rear door unless riders require priority seating or a wheelchair ramp.
VTA:
VTA will increase the frequency of seven bus routes to address the urgent issue of passenger pass ups Frequency improvements will occur on lines 23, 25, 64, 66, 68, 71, & 77. These changes will go into effect as soon as all of the logistics can be worked out, which is expected to take several weeks. For more information, click here.
As of October 12, weekdays service during peak hours for Route 21 will be increased to operate every thirty minutes, for Route 52, The timepoint at El Monte & Foothill will be moved to El Monte & El Camino, Weekday schedule changes will be made on the following routes: 21, 51, 56, 66, 83. As of September 14, VTA adjusted the schedule of the Rapid 500 bus. These changes match VTA’s service to BART, making transfers more reliable when passengers arrive at Berryessa/North San Jose. For more information, click here.
As of Monday, August 10th, VTA has increased its bus and light rail service. All bus routes (except Express 121) will return to service. For more information, click here.
Weekday light rail service has been extended and is now running from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Weekend service on all light rail lines is also operating from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. As of, Saturday, June 13th, the Express 181 route from the San Jose Diridon Station to the BART Warm Springs Station has been discontinued. Service is being replaced by the Rapid 500. The Rapid 500 route will operate between the Berryessa BART Station and Downtown San Jose. For more information, click here.
Fares & Boarding: Fare collection has resumed for all bus, train, and paratransit service as of August 1. All VTA riders are required to wear face coverings beginning May 4th.
WestCat:
Route JX bus service has been suspended. Lynx Transbay Service to Salesforce Transit Center is operating on a Holiday/MLK Day Schedule. No school service.

Fares & Boarding: WestCAT is temporarily limiting passenger capacity on all buses in support of social distancing measures. Please be aware that you may be asked to wait for another bus if a bus has already reached a safe passenger capacity.
Fare collection has been suspended on all services including Paratransit. WestCat has implemented rear-door boarding on all fixed-route buses.
