    It’s that time of year again for turkey, pumpkin pie, and family gatherings! Thanksgiving is also one of the busiest travel times of the year, and using transit can save time and stress.

    Here are some top tips for navigating transit during the holiday:

    🦃Be Prepared for the Turkey Day Traffic & Transit Changes!

    Peak Travel times are:

    • Wednesday, Nov. 27 (just before Thanksgiving)
    • Saturday, Nov. 30 (post-feast travels)
    • Sunday, Dec. 1 (heading home from holiday visits)

    Many Agencies operate holiday, alternative, or no service on the following days:

    • Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28
    • Day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 29

    🚍Plan Ahead & Take Public Transit to Thanksgiving!

    • 🗓Plan:
      • Use Moovit to plan your trip in advance to check for best travel options.
      • Traveling out of your metropolitan area? No worries, Moovit includes Intercity options like Amtrak, Flixbus, & Megabus.
      • Public Transit is the cheapest option to get to and from the airport. King County Metro and Sound Transit both service Seattle Tacoma Airport. Check Moovit for the best option for you.
      • Park & Ride – check park & ride options in your area to access hub stations and leave the car behind.

      • If available pay for your ticket in advance to save hassle at the station
      • Amtrak and other intercity services often require reservations during Thanksgiving. Book tickets as early as possible.

    Thanksgiving Day Service by Agency

    • Metro Transit 
      • Metro Transit will operate Sunday service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will return to regular service on Friday, November 29th. 
      • Water Taxis –  No service on Thanksgiving Day, Holiday service on Friday, November 29th.
    • Sound Transit
      • Sound Transit will operate the following service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th:
        • ST Express – Sunday Service
        • Sounder – No Service
        • T Line – Sunday Service
        • 1 Line – Sunday Service
      • Sound Transit will operate the following service on Friday, November 29th:
        • ST Express – Regular Service
        • Sounder – No Service
        • T Line – Reduced Saturday Service
        • 1 Line – Saturday Service
    • Community Transit
      • Community Transit will operate Sunday service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will return to regular service on Friday, November 29th. 
    • Pierce Transit
      • Pierce Transit will operate Sunday service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will return to regular service on Friday, November 29th. 
    • The following agencies will have no service on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28thd, and resume regular service on Friday, November 29th:
      • Everett Transit
      • Whatcom Transportation Authority
      • Skagit Transit
      • Seattle Center Monorail
      • Intercity Transit
      • Kitsap Transit (Friday, Nov 29th – Holiday Service)
      • SeaTac Airport Shuttle
      • Grays Harbor Transit
      • Island Transit
      • Clallam Transit System
      • Mason Transit Authority (Friday, Nov 29tth – Reduced Saturday Service)
      • Snoqualmie Valley Transportation (Friday, Nov 29th – No Service)
      • Twin Transit (Friday, Nov 29th, Buses will operate on a shortened schedule, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
