SEPTA’s Transit Police Strike & Chestnut Hill West (CHW) Line is suspended on Sunday

December 14, 2023

SEPTA’s Transit Police are on strike

After much talk, SEPTA’s Transit Police Officers are officially on strike.

To fill the security gap, SEPTA will bring in local police and private security. Supervisory transit police will be working extended shifts to provide a steady presence at terminals, transfer points, hot spots, and transit corridors. Private security guards will be assigned to locations as needed, with a focus on the Market-Frankford and Broad Street Line, and the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management will also provide logistical support.

As of now, all of SEPTA’s transit services are operating as scheduled.

Regional Rail service on the Chestnut Hill West (CHW) Line is suspended on Sunday

Regional Rail service on the Chestnut Hill West (CHW) Line is suspended on Sunday, December 17, 2023, for the entire service day, due to the removal of the Duval Street Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge removal is in coordination with the City of Philadelphia.

There is no bus substitution for the Chestnut Hill West Line suspension; train service has been shifted to the Chestnut Hill East (CHE) Line for Dec. 17.
