SF Pride Events and Parade – Detours and Service Changes

Pride events, marches, and parades are taking place this weekend! Planning to watch the colorful parades and marches and celebrate alongside the LGBT+ Community?

Events are causing road closures, reroutes, and service changes. Please expect delays and plan for extra travel time. 


What is happening this weekend?

Trans March: Friday, June 23, 2023

San Francisco’s Trans March, one of the largest Trans events in the world, will take place on Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. The march will travel up Dolores to Market then on to Taylor. The march will end at Turk & Taylor. The 31 Balboa will be rerouted while other services in the Civic Center and Central Market areas may experience delays as the march passes by.

The following streets will be closed from 6 to 9 p.m.:

Muni Service Changes

From 6 to 9 p.m.: The Outbound 31 Balboa Route will reroute from its terminal via Market, McAllister, Leavenworth, Turk to its regular route.

The following stops will be missed: Turk St & Mason St & Turk St & Jones St. 

Note: The following lines and routes may experience delays from 6 to 9 p.m.:

 

Dyke March: Saturday, June 24, 2023

The annual Dyke March will take place in the Castro on Saturday. Following the rally at Dolores Park, the march will begin its route on 18th, proceeding to Valencia, 16th, Market and Castro streets then turning back on 18th Street to return to Dolores Park. The march will begin at 5 p.m. Streets will be closed to automobiles and Muni will reroute for the Dyke March. Read below for more detailed information.

The following streets will be closed from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Muni Service Changes

Two Muni rail lines, the F Market & Wharves and J Church, will not be able to operate on their tracks during the march. Buses will operate to fill the gaps in rail service. Service will return to normal once the streets are clear.

San Francisco Pride Celebration Staging: June 22 – 26, 2023

On Saturday and Sunday, Civic Center Plaza and surrounding streets will be closed for the Annual San Francisco Pride Celebration. Some streets will be closed as early as Thursday and as late as Monday and Muni will reroute.

The following street closures will be required at time specified:

Currently in effect until 9 a.m., Tuesday, June 27:

Starting at 9 a.m., Thursday and continuing until 3 p.m., Monday:

Starting at 7 p.m., Thursday and continuing until 6 a.m., Monday:

Starting at 9 a.m., Friday and continuing until 6 a.m., Monday:

Starting at 8 p.m., Friday and continuing until 6 a.m., Monday:

Starting at 12:01 a.m., Sunday and continuing until 5 p.m., Sunday:

All northbound traffic coming from 9th Street will be directed to use Hayes Street to either Van Ness Avenue or Franklin Street. Southbound traffic on Polk Street should use Golden Gate Avenue to Hyde Street until Saturday evening when both Hyde Street and Golden Gate Avenue will be closed.

San Francisco Pride Parade: June 26, 2023

The annual San Francisco Pride Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. from the lower Market Street formation area. The parade will commence at Market and Beale streets and proceed west on Market Street to Hyde and 8th streets, where it will disband on 8th Street.

At 9 a.m. Market Street from Steuart Street to Van Ness Avenue will be closed for the parade. All intersections will be closed to cross traffic during the parade, which is scheduled to end at approximately 5 p.m. As each section of Market Street is cleaned by the San Francisco Public Works personnel, it will be reopened.

The following streets comprising the formation area will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. Traffic on cross streets will be allowed to continue, subject to delays, except when parade units are actually crossing the intersections:

Muni Service Changes

Service that normally travels on or crosses Market Street will be affected by the parade.

From 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, the following routes will be affected: 5 Fulton; 5R Fulton Rapid; 7 Haight-Noriega; 8 Bayshore; 9 San Bruno; 12 Folsom Pacific; 14 Mission; 14R Mission Rapid; 15 Bayview Hunters Point Express; 19 Polk; 27 Bryant; 30 Stockton; 31 Balboa; 38 Geary; 38R Geary Rapid; 45 Union-Stockton; California Cable Car; Powell Mason Cable Car; Powell Hyde Cable Car; F Market & Wharves; K Ingleside Bus Weekend AM Shuttles; L Taraval Bus; N Judah Bus Weekend AM Shuttles; T Third Street Bus Weekend AM Shuttles.
