    Ride Muni Free on Day of Chinese New Year Parade

    Saturday, Feb. 24: The SFMTA will provide free rides on Muni on the day of the Chinese New Year Parade, cable cars not included.

    Events at Chase Center

    Thursday, Feb. 22 through Wednesday, Feb. 28: There will be multiple events to take place at the Chase Center:

    • Thursday, Feb. 22: The Warriors will play against the Los Angeles Lakers. Game will start at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
    • Friday, Feb. 23: The Warriors will play against the Charlotte Hornets. Game will start at 5:30 p.m. Doors will open at 4 p.m.
    • Sunday, Feb. 25: The Warriors will play against the Denver Nuggets. Game will start at 4 p.m. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.
    • Tuesday, Feb. 27: Performance by Madonna will take place. Show will start at 8:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
    • Wednesday, Feb. 28: Performance by Madonna will take place. Show will start at 8:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
    Supplemental Muni Service
    • Muni will operate supplemental 78X Arena Express service.
    • Pre-event express shuttle service from 16th Street BART Station to Chase Center will start two and a half hours before each game/event and will end one hour after game/event starts.
    • Post-event express shuttle service from Chase Center on 16th Street to 16th Street BART Station will run until the area clears.
    Special Event Parking Rates

    During basketball games and other major events with more than 10,000 expected attendees at the arena, parking meters close to the arena will charge a special event rate of $10 per hour. These rates help reduce congestion and keep parking spots available in the neighborhoods near the arena, discouraging circling for free or cheap parking. Start times for special event rates vary based on the start time of the event. 

    Street Closures

    To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:

    • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
    • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
    • Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after an event.
    • Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.
    No Parking Zone

    To facilitate loading and pick up for Muni customers and patrons, NO PARKING will be in effect at these locations during events:

    • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
    • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
    • Between the 500 and 700 blocks of Terry Francois Boulevard (TFB)
    Taxi Stands

    There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.

    Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.

    Additional Passenger Loading

    • 4th Street which connects to Chase Center via Gene Friend Way pedestrian path which cuts through UCSF campus.
    • Owens Street connects to Chase Center via Gene Friend Way pedestrian path which cuts through UCSF campus. 
    Chinatown Community Street Fair

    Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25: The Chinatown Community Street Fair will be held this weekend. The street fair will take place along Grant Avenue between Clay and Broadway streets from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

    The following street closures will be required for the event from 11 p.m., Friday, Feb. 23 to 11 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25:

    • Grant Avenue between California Street and Broadway
    • Pacific Avenue between Columbus Avenue and Stockton Street
    • Jackson Street between Stockton and Kearny streets
    • Washington Street between Stockton and Kearny streets
    • Intersections at Grant Avenue: Jackson Street, Washington Street and Pacific Street
    • All alleys in the area bounded by California Street, Stockton Street, Broadway and Kearny Street
    There will be heavy traffic in the area. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.

    The 12 Folsom/Pacific Muni route will be affected.

    Chinese New Year Parade

    Saturday, Feb. 24: The Chinese New Year Parade will start from 2nd and Market streets at 5:30 p.m. The parade will travel west on Market Street, west on Geary Street, north on Powell Street, east on Post Street and north on Kearny Street to Columbus Avenue. The parade will disperse on Columbus Avenue between Pacific and Washington streets. 

    The SFMTA will provide extra LRV Metro service to support the expected crowds.

    Staging of the floats will begin at 10 a.m. in the parking lane of Main Street between Market and Harrison streets. The following street closures will be required:

    • From 2 p.m.:
      • 2nd Street between Market and Mission streets
    • From 3 p.m.:
      • Main Street between Harrison and Market streets
      • Market Street between Main and 3rd streets
      • Main Street between Harrison and Market streets
      • Geary Street between Market and Powell streets
      • Powell Street between Geary and Post streets
      • Post Street between Powell and Kearny streets
      • Kearny Street between Post Street and Columbus Avenue
    • From 5 p.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m.:
      • Columbus Avenue south of Pacific Avenue
      • Jackson Street between Kearny and Sansome streets
      • Washington Street between Kearny and Sansome streets
      • Clay Street between Kearny and Sansome streets
    Beginning at 3 p.m., Mission Street between 5th Street and The Embarcadero will be designated as transit-only street until Market Street re-opens to transit.

    Traffic along Market Street will be diverted during the event:

    • Westbound to Howard Street
    • Eastbound to Folsom Street
    The following Muni lines and routes will be affected: California Cable Car; Powell-Mason Cable Car; Powell-Hyde Cable Car; F Market & Wharves; 1 California; 2 Sutter; 5 Fulton; 6 Haight/Parnassus; 7 Haight/Noriega; 8 Bayshore; 9 San Bruno; 12 Folsom/Pacific; 14 Mission; 14R Mission Rapid; 15 Bayview Hunter’s Point Express; 30 Stockton; 38 Geary; 38R Geary Rapid and 45 Union/Stockton.

    Previous
