SFMTA Transit and Traffic Advisory, March 22-27

Hi Mooviters, 

Muni has released the following advisory for upcoming event-related traffic and transit changes.

Events at Chase Center

Friday, March 22: The Warriors will play against the Indiana Pacers at the Chase Center. Game will start at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Supplemental Muni Service

Special Event Parking Rates

During basketball games and other major events with more than 10,000 expected attendees at the arena, parking meters close to the arena will charge a special event rate of $10 per hour. These rates help reduce congestion and keep parking spots available in the neighborhoods near the arena, discouraging circling for free or cheap parking. Start times for special event rates vary based on the start time of the event.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:

No Parking Zone

To facilitate loading and pick up for Muni customers and patrons, NO PARKING will be in effect at these locations during events:

Taxi Stands

There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.

Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.

San Francisco Giants Baseball Game

Tuesday, March 26The San Francisco Giants will play their pre-season game against the Oakland Athletics at the ballpark. Game will start at 5:05 p.m. The first regular season home opener will begin on Friday, April 5 when the San Francisco Giants will play against the San Diego Padres.

CONSTRUCTION WORK AND OTHER UPDATES

NEW: Church Street Maintenance Work

Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24: Due to maintenance work performed by the SFMTA and PG&E on Church Street, the J Church line will be motorized from 5 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Riders who need J Church service between Balboa Park and Downtown will use K Ingleside, M Ocean View or S Shuttle trains and transfer to a J Church Bus at Church Station. Customer should look for “Muni Alert” signage at bus stops for information on alternate boarding locations, especially in the areas of Balboa Park, Clipper Street, 24th Street, 22nd Street, 20th Street, 18th Street and Duboce Avenue. Full length J Church Line trains will resume operations at 6:15 p.m. daily.

In addition, the F Market & Wharves Line historic street cars will operate only on The Embarcadero on Saturday & Sunday. The F Market & Wharves Line bus service will serve the F Line stops on Market Street and in the Castro.

NEW: F Line Motorization

Starting on Monday, March 25 and will continue through Saturday, April 6various construction projects will occur on Market Street that require Muni service adjustments. The full route of F Market and Wharves line will operate on Muni buses that display “F Market” during the construction. There will also be minor reroutes to the 5 Fulton, 5R Fulton Rapid and 19 Polk Muni lines.

UPDATE: L Taraval Improvement Project—Segment B

The L Taraval Improvement Project is a multi-agency collaboration to improve safety, accessibility, and transit reliability, and to rehabilitate aging rails, utility lines and roadway pavement along the L Taraval line between Sunset Boulevard and 15th Avenue and on Ulloa Street near West Portal.

Work to install new rails, boarding islands, boarding ramps and curb ramps continues. Track installation is approximately 85% complete. The work zone for the track installation on Taraval Street between 19th and 22nd avenues is anticipated to be restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction until Friday, Feb. 23, after which some parking will be released. The last track area activation is anticipated to start on Monday, Feb. 12, between 33rd   Avenue and Sunset Boulevard.

Nighttime work is scheduled from Sunday through Friday, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sundays through Fridays
The L Bus now runs between West Portal and the SF Zoo. Customers can transfer to a train at West Portal Station to travel downtown.

During construction, the L Taraval bus stops are being relocated. The inbound bus stop at Taraval Street and 15th Avenue has been relocated across the intersection until fall 2024.
