Subway Service Changes During Omicron Surge

January 13, 2022

Moovit is always with you to ensure a smooth journey, especially through these challenging times.

Due to the impacts of Covid-19 there are many changes to public transit in NYC,  Don’t forget to check schedules, Real-Time (if available), and Service Alerts in the app to stay on top of changes to your lines while traveling.

Stay updated with the following message from MTA: ⬇️

Like everyone in New York, we’ve been impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 surge. In order to keep you moving as efficiently as possible, we’re taking proactive steps to reallocate train crews. This means that some lines will not operate, and others may run less frequently than usual.

We have temporarily suspended service on the B,W and Z lines. These routes exclusively serve stations that have at least one other subway line available. By placing them on hiatus, we are able to reallocate staff to other train lines so we can continue to reliably run train service at all 472 stations in our system.

    Here are the travel alternatives:

B riders: Take the D train in the Bronx, the  C or D train in Manhattan, or the Q train in Brooklyn.

W riders: Take the N train in Queens or the R train in Manhattan.

Z train riders: Take the J  train.

Additionally, express service is not running on the  6 and 7 lines, along with express D  trains in the Bronx. Take local F trains instead.

Rockaway Park A trains also are not running. Take the Rockaway Park Shuttle instead.

The MTA team is  here 24/7 to help you get where you’re going. Reach out to us on Twitter or through WhatsApp.

Looking for a free COVID-19 vaccine, booster, or PCR test? We’ve partnered with New York State to offer them at key locations throughout the system. Click here to learn more.
