Sydney – Anzac Day Service Disruptions

 

Free travel for veterans and families


Travel on public transport is free to members and ex-members of the Australian Defence Force in uniform or wearing their medals.
Carers and families also travel free, as do widows and widowers, children and grandchildren of deceased veterans who are carrying an accreditation letter from the RSL or present a war widow’s gold card.

NSW TrainLink passengers wearing their uniform or medals will be able to purchase a return ticket for the price of a single fare on the day.

Train


Early morning train services will run to get you to Martin Place for the Dawn Service

Bus


Sydney Buses will run to a public holiday timetable with extra early morning services on major bus corridors into the city.
Many services will use changed routes and temporary stops between 03:00 and 16:00 due to road closures.

From 03:00:
Buses that normally travel on Elizabeth Street will divert via Wentworth Avenue, College Street and Macquarie Street.
Buses that normally start from Castlereagh Street and Pitt Street will start at Macquarie Street near Martin Place.
From 06:00:
Victoria Road services will end and start at York Street near the QVB.
There will be diversions on cross-city routes such as 343, 389 and Metrobus services.
Routes 311, 324 and 325 will end and start from College Street near St Mary’s Cathedral.
Some bus services may experience delays while roads are closed. Allow extra travel time or consider catching a City Circle train instead.
Hillsbus services will run to a Sunday timetable with additional early-morning services to the City for the Dawn Service.

Ferry


Sydney Ferries services will run to a public holiday timetable. See ferry timetables and maps.

Light rail


Light rail services run between Central Station and Dulwich Hill with stops at popular CBD and Inner West destinations.
