West Midlands Network Travel Advice

July 2, 2026
Regional Bus Networks (NX West Midlands & Partners)
    • Localised Diversions: Regular city-centre road works continue across Birmingham, Coventry, and Wolverhampton. While no major regional network halts are scheduled, users should expect standard localized route diversions.

    West Midlands Metro (Tram)
    • Standard Weekend Service: Trams are scheduled to operate a standard weekend timetable between Birmingham Edgbaston Village and Wolverhampton Station. No major line closures or engineering works are planned for this weekend.

    Rail Network & Engineering Alterations
    1. London Euston Line Alterations (Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 July)
    • Operators Affected: Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway.

    • Impact: Pre-planned engineering works are taking place on sections of the West Coast Main Line. Consequently, train timetables to and from London Euston via Birmingham New Street, Coventry, and Wolverhampton will be amended. Some services may operate with longer journey times or revised departure slots.

    2. Network Recovery (West Midlands Railway)
    • Background: Following extreme heat and infrastructure strain earlier in the week, residual speed restrictions and minor timetable amendments remain in place on select local lines while Network Rail completes routine track inspections.

    • Affected Corridors: Minor, localized delays or short-notice cancellations may affect the Cross City Line (Lichfield to Redditch/Bromsgrove), the Snow Hill Lines, and local services running between Wolverhampton and Walsall.
