π Rail: Major Disruptions & Engineering
The most significant impact is the Huddersfield line closure (part of the multi-year upgrade project).
Manchester β Huddersfield β Leeds (Sat 2 May β Mon 4 May):
Closure: Trains between Manchester and Leeds via Huddersfield are heavily diverted or replaced by buses.
TransPennine Express: Services between Liverpool and Hull will only run between Leeds and Hull. Manchester Piccadilly to York services are split (Manchester to Huddersfield and Wakefield to York).
Northern: Services between Wigan and Leeds via Dewsbury will split at Todmorden and Halifax.
York β Northallerton β Redcar (Sat 2 May β Mon 4 May):
No Trains: Engineering work between York and Redcar Central. LNER and TransPennine services to/from Newcastle will start/terminate at Northallerton.
Replacement Buses: Buses will replace trains between York and Redcar Central, calling at Thirsk and Northallerton.
π Bus: Holiday Schedules & New Timetables
Bank Holiday Monday (May 4th):
Leeds, York & West Yorkshire: Most bus services (First, Arriva, Keighley Bus Co) will run on a Sunday Timetable.
Exceptions: Park & Ride services in York and Leeds generally run a standard service to support city-centre shoppers.
Service Changes (Starting Sunday, May 3rd):
Leeds: Minor timetable adjustments to Routes 22, 25, and 508 to improve reliability. Routes 74 & 75 in Leeds will have a revised route due to the closure of Pepper Road and Kirkgate.
Bradford: Frequency changes for Routes 617, 618, 640, and 641.
East Yorkshire: Roadworks in Market Weighton (York Road) and Beverley (Morrisons stop) mean diversions for routes X46 and X47.
β½ Sporting Events (Saturday, May 2nd)
South Yorkshire (Sheffield): Major bus diversions in Hillsborough (11:30β15:15) for Sheffield Wednesday vs. West Brom and around Bramall Lane (14:00β17:45) for Sheffield United Womenβs match.
