COVID-19 Service Information Update

April 1, 2020

    Last Updated 1st April 2020

From Monday 23rd March, Translink Bus Services (Ulsterbus, Metro and Glider) will operate a reduced service timetable and NI Railways will operate a Saturday timetable. Translink is also reducing the service timetable for cross-border coach and Enterprise rail services.

From Friday 27 March all health and social care trust workers within Northern Ireland will be offered free travel on Translink bus and rail services until the end of June when there will be a further review.

Translink have regular enhanced cleaning regimes in place for our fleet and passenger facilities including keeping surfaces clean and sanitising hand touch areas.

Hand sanitisers have been rolled out across all frontline bus and rail staff.

Translink have amended procedures for staff in relation to contact with customers to ensure the safety of everyone involved. This includes minimising contact between staff and the public for ticket checks and buying tickets.

Current advice for using transport safely

    • Only travel if it is absolutely essential – making non-essential journeys risks lives.
    • Consider changing the time when you need to use public transport. Travelling outside of peak times will help reduce the number of people using the network at the same time and support social distancing measures that are currently in place.
    • Passengers should wash their hands for 20 seconds before and after they have been on public transport where stations are equipped with hand washing facilities in toilets.
    • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and then place the tissue into the bin straight away.
    • To reduce cash handling, it is advised that where possible, passengers use prepaid tickets such as m-link or multi-journey tickets and contactless if purchasing at stations, on board the train from the conductor or Glider TVM’s.
It is strongly urged customers if paying by cash please tender the exact fare where possible.
    • We would advise passengers not to travel if they are feeling unwell with symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) i.e. a new, continuous cough or a high temperature. This will help to protect others from infection.
