Permanent Bus Shelter Installation Project Phase 1
Effective until Monday, July 29, the Bus Shelter Replacement Project at Rhode Island Avenue Station will commence. During this period, multiple bus bays will temporarily close to facilitate the installation of new bus shelters. The impacted bus bays include A, B, and C, as well as the shelter at the Kiss & Ride area.
Temporary Bus Stop Locations:
- Bus Stop T1: Route H8, H9 Park Road-Brookland
- Bus Stop T2: Route D8 Hospital Center, S41 Rhode Island Av-Carver Terr
- Bus Bay D: Route T14 Rhode Island Ave-New Carrollton, T18 Annapolis Road Bus
- Bus Bay E: Route 83, 86 College Park
- Bus Bay F: Route P6 Anacostia-Eckington
- Bus Stop G: Route G8 Rhode Island Avenue towards Farragut Square
- Bus Stop H: Route G8 Rhode Island Avenue towards Avondale
Passengers are advised to board the aforementioned routes at their designated temporary locations.
Temporary Bus Detours Due to Capital One Arena Event
Advisory Effective: July 19, 2024 Time: 11:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.
On Friday, July 19, 2024, from 11:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., bus routes 70 and 79 will detour to accommodate a special event at Capital One Arena. Due to anticipated heavy vehicular and foot traffic, passengers should allow additional travel time and avoid the area if possible.
Affected Routes and Detours:
- Route 70 Georgia Avenue-7th Street:
- Northbound towards Silver Spring Station: Buses will begin detouring on 7th St NW at E St, resuming their regular route on 7th St NW at L St.
- Southbound towards Archives: Buses will begin detouring on 7th St NW at K St, resuming their regular route on 7th St NW at Constitution Ave.
- Route 79 Georgia Avenue MetroExtra:
- Northbound towards Silver Spring Station: Buses will begin detouring on 7th St NW at E St, resuming their regular route on 7th St NW at L St.
- Southbound towards Archives: Buses will begin detouring on 7th St NW at K St, resuming their regular route on 9th St NW at Constitution Ave.
