Many agencies in the region are partnering to offer a “Safety First” night with zero fares during peak party hours.
SFMTA (Muni): FREE service from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
Extra Subway Service: S-Shuttle trains will run between West Portal and 4th & King, and Chinatown to 3rd & Mariposa until 2:00 AM.
Owl Network: Extra buses on routes like the 5, 7, 14, 22, 25, and 38 until 2:00 AM.
BART: Extended service until 1:00 AM (No free service; regular fares apply).
Grand Meet: A synchronized transfer will occur at MacArthur Station at 1:51 AM for the final trains of the night.
Last SF Train: The final southbound train toward Millbrae departs downtown SF around 2:10 AM.
Caltrain: FREE service after 8:00 PM.
Extra Southbound Trains: Departures from San Francisco at 1:00 AM, 1:30 AM, and 2:00 AM (or until the fireworks crowds clear).
VTA (Santa Clara Valley): FREE service from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
Extended Hours: Light Rail (Blue, Green, Orange lines) and the Rapid 500 bus will run extended late-night trips.
AC Transit (East Bay): FREE service from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM on all local and Transbay lines.
SamTrans (San Mateo): FREE service from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM on all bus routes.
Golden Gate Transit: Operating on a regular weekday schedule. No free service or extended late-night hours have been announced for the bus or ferry; last buses from SF generally depart before 1:30 AM.
New Year’s Day Service (Jan 1, 2026)
Muni & BART: Operating on a Sunday schedule.
Caltrain & VTA: Operating on a Sunday/Holiday schedule.
AC Transit & SamTrans: Operating on a Sunday schedule.
