🎄 Holiday Schedule Updates: Many agencies are offering alternative service for Christmas and New Year’s. As always, Moovit is updated. Plan your travels with our trip planner. We have also compiled a list of your favorite agencies below.
🚌 Real-Time Arrivals: Traveling during the Holiday season can be hectic but Moovit helps you stay informed with Real-Time arrival updates that let you know exactly when your bus/train/subway is arriving.
⚠️ In-App Service Alerts: Don’t get caught by any last-minute service changes, stay informed with our in-app service alerts.
Christmas & New Year’s Service by Agency
- MBTA
- Christmas Day, Monday, December 25th
- No Ferry service.
- Subway, Bus, and The RIDE will run on a Sunday Schedule
- Commuter Rail will run on a weekend schedule.
- New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31st
- Subway will run on a Sunday schedule, with increased service after 3 PM.
- Bus and The RIDE will run on a Sunday schedule.
- Commuter Rail will run on a weekend schedule.
- Charlestown Ferry (F4) route service ends at 6 PM.
- New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1st
- No Ferry service.
- Subway, Bus, and The RIDE will run on a Sunday Schedule
- Commuter Rail will run on a weekend schedule.
- Christmas Day, Monday, December 25th
- Massport & Logan Express
- Massport & Logan Express will operate regular service on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
- Rhode Island Public Transit Authority
- Rhode Island Public Transit Authority will operate Sunday service on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
- Boston Express
- Boston Express will offer a shortened Holiday service on Christmas Day.
- The following agencies will have no service on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day:
- Brockton Area Transit Authority
- Lowell Regional Transit Authority
- Merrimack Valley Transit
- MetroWest Regional Transit Authority
- Southeastern Regional Transit Authority (New Year’s Day- Saturday Service)
- GATRA (New Year’s Day- Saturday Service)
- Martha’s Vineyard Transit Authority (Route 10 service will run and is served by the Steamship Authority)

- WRTA (Friday, Nov. 24th – Saturday Service)
- 128 Business Council
- Cape Ann Transportation Authority
- PVTA (New Year’s Day- Holiday Service)
