Chinatown Direct Bus Services – CT8 and CT18 – will temporarily change their operating hours in the lead up to Chinese New Year.
In general, CT8 plies between Ang Mo Kio and Chinatown while CT18 travels between Bedok and Chinatown. CT28 will cease to operate from this Chinese New Year.
On 3 Saturdays – Jan. 7, 14 and 21 – the last bus of CT8 and CT18 heading to Chinatown will depart at 9.00pm, about an hour later than usual. And the last bus back from Chinatown will depart at 12.30am from the bus stop after Hospital Drive (10017) along Eu Tong Sen Street.
On weekdays and Sundays, from Jan. 9 to 26, their first and last trips will be adjusted by between five and 10 minutes.
On Jan. 27, eve of Chinese New Year, they will extend operating hours. The last bus heading to Chinatown will depart at 11.00pm. The last bus back from Chinatown will depart at 1.55am.
No service on 28 and 29 January.
And they will resume their normal operating hours from Jan. 30.
In addition, Chinese New Year celebrations and the Chingay Parade will affect 16 bus services in January and February 2017.
Due to road closures for the Chinese New Year celebrations, 11 SBS Transit bus services will be diverted in and around Chinatown, on three days in January and February.
They are services 33, 54, 63, 80, 124, 145, 147, 166, 197, CT8 and CT18.
The affected dates are:
- Saturday, 7 January 2017, 2.00pm to 11.00pm: Chinese New Year Light Up and Official Opening Ceremony
- Friday, 27 January 2017, 5.00pm to 3.00am: Chinese New Year Countdown Celebration
- Sunday, 12 February 2017, 2.00pm to 11.00pm: Chingay Parade @ Chinatown
The 11 bus services will skip seven bus stops along their regular routes – on Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road, Outram Road and Upper Cross Street – during the affected periods.
Five SMRT bus services – 61, 190, 851, 961 and 970 – will be temporarily diverted around Chinatown on Jan 7 and Jan 27.
They will skip nine bus stops along Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road, Upper Cross Street and Outram Road.
