Liberty City
MLK Day Service Project from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 13 at Belafonte Tacolcy Center, NW 62 St. and 10 Ave. hosted by Greater Miami Service Corps. in collaboration with various other local groups. Volunteer effort includes painting, mulching, litter removal and plantings. Breakfast snacks and refreshments provided.
Visit the Historic Hampton House hotel and take in their current exhibition “Gimme Shelter” celebrating this iconic site and its symbol as a safe space for shelter, warmth, hospitality and community for black people during the times of segregation.
Downtown Miami
Buy one get one admission to the Black Police Precinct and Courthouse Museum to view the historic memorabilia of the first black police officers in the City of Miami. Museum is located at 480 NW 11 St.

MLK Jr. Breakfast & Economic Summit 2024 Jan. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 18909 NE 29 Ave. Start your day with an inspiring prayer breakfast honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Following the breakfast, The Economic Summit will kick off where industry leaders will discuss strategies for economic growth, empowerment, and equality.

A Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. presented by Miami Jazz Cooperative and Sunshine Jazz Organization at 8 p.m. on Jan. 15 at UU Congregation of Miami, 7701 SW 76 Ave. with essays, poetry and music by a variety of artists.

All 392 U.S. national parks offer free entry on certain holidays every year. And Martin Luther King Jr. Day is one of those holidays.
This offer includes entry at Everglades National Park and Dry Tortugas National Park, off Key West.
