Construction of the subway station Sendlinger Tor

Sendlinger Tor underground station – an important hub in Munich’s underground network – will be extensively refurbished, modernised, redesigned, barrier-free upgraded and extended by approx. 2023.

Please pay attention to the special timetables, destination displays and any sign posts at the affected lines. In general, we recommend to avoid the area wide-range – if possible – and allow more time for travelling.

Subject to changes of dates and times on short notice.

 Current line status

München U1 München U2 München U7München U8

Monday, 18 November until Thursday, 21 November, daily ca. 23.00 until 05.00 hrs.
Monday, 25 November until Thursday, 28 November, daily ca. 23.00 until 05.00 hrs.

During the closures on working days (marked yellow in the calender on the notice boards) the 20-minute interval on U1 and U2 starts one hour earlier than usual at 23.00 hrs. In these nights please pay attention to changed departure tracks, destination displays and announcements at Stiglmaierplatz (U1 only), Central Station, Sendlinger Tor and Fraunhoferstraße.

U1

For the connecting journeys between ca. 01.00 and 05.00 hrs. U1 is divided into the sections Olympia-Einkaufszentrum ⇔ Central Station and Kolumbusplatz ⇔ Mangfallplatz. Between Central Station and Kolumbusplatz please use U2.

 U2

For the connecting journeys between ca. 01.00 and 05.00 hrs. U2 runs from Feldmoching to Central Station where we have to ask you to leave the train for a short time to allow the Feldmoching bound train to pass through. Afterwards the journey towards Messestadt Ost may be continues from the same platform with a delay of approx. 5 minutes. The connection to U5 at Innsbrucker Ring is ensured.

Please note that the connections for U3 towards Fürstenried West and U6 towards Klinikum Großhadern at Sendlinger Tor cannot be reached by this and inform yourself in advance about the MVG Fahrinfo App or online on mvg.de about the best connection for you.

München U3München U6

During the above-mentioned periods the following restrictions apply on the underground lines U3 and U6:

Shuttle train

The section Odeonsplatz- Marienplatz – Sendlinger Tor – Goetheplatz is served by a shuttle train in a 15-minute headway.

U3

U3 runs every 10 minutes between Moosach and Münchner Freiheit and every 15 minutes between Goetheplatz and Fürstenried West. Between Münchner Freiheit and Goetheplatz please use U6 and the shuttle train.

Due to the 15-minute headway between Goetheplatz and Fürstenried West not all connections can be reached as usual – please inform yourself in good time about the best connection for you.

U6

U6 runs every 10 minutes between Garching-Forschungszentrum and Odeonsplatz as well as between Implerstraße and Klinikum Großhadern. Between Odeonsplatz please use the shuttle train and U3.

Bus München

Take the CityRing 58 / 68 and comfortably pass the bottleneck:
By changing at Giselastraße or Universität and Goetheplatz you can comfortably avoid the closed section with the bus routes 58 and 68 (CityRing). Coming from U1, U2, U4 and U5 please change at Central Station.

 

Further bypass recommendations:
  • Marienplatz ⇔ Harras or Obersendling (Siemenswerke): S7
  • Sendlinger Tor ⇔ Poccistraße: Bus route 62, travelling time approx. 10 minutes
  • Coming from U1, U2, U4 and U5 to Marienplatz:  S-Bahn lines S1-S8 from Central Station, travelling time approx. 3 minutes

From Monday, 18 November until approx. Thursday, 28 November 2019 the connecting tunnel from the mezzanine level to the exits Nußbaumstraße / Hospitals and Sonnenstraße West / Pettenkoferstraße will be temporarily closed. The nearest entrance / exit may be found on the outbound tram platform.
