Here are some top tips for navigating transit during the holiday:

Peak Travel times are:
- Wednesday, Nov. 27 (just before Thanksgiving)
- Saturday, Nov. 30 (post-feast travels)
- Sunday, Dec. 1 (heading home from holiday visits)
Many Agencies operate holiday, alternative, or no service on the following days:
- Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28
- Day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 29

🚍Plan Ahead & Take Public Transit to Thanksgiving!

- Use Moovit to plan your trip in advance to check for best travel options.
- Traveling out of your metropolitan area? No worries, Moovit includes Intercity options like Amtrak, Flixbus, & Megabus.
- Traveling on Wednesday – consider traveling early or late to avoid the rush.
- Park & Ride – check park & ride options in your area to access hub stations and leave the car behind.

- If available pay for your ticket in advance to save hassle at the station
- Amtrak and other intercity services often require reservations during Thanksgiving. Book tickets as early as possible.

Thanksgiving Day Service by Agency
- ⚬ WMATA
- Metrorail will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th and will return to a weekday service schedule on Friday, November 29th.
- Metrobuses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will return to a weekday service schedule on Friday, November 29th.
⚬ MDOT/MTA
- Local Bus: Sunday/Holiday Schedule
- Metro Subway: Sunday/Holiday Schedule
- Light Rail: Sunday/Holiday Schedule
- MARC Train:
Thursday, November 28 – No MARC Train service on Thanksgiving Day.
Friday, November 29 – MARC is operating the Saturday schedule on the Penn Line only. No Brunswick or Camden Line service. - Commuter Bus: Service will not operate on Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th, 2024, with the exception of Route 201, which will operate on a Weekend/Holiday Schedule both days.
- Mobility Service: Service will operate on a Holiday Schedule. All standing rides are canceled. Call the Mobility Call Center, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at 410-764-8181 to reschedule November 28th rides.
Montgomery County Ride-On
- Ride-On will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will return to a weekday service schedule on Friday, November 29th.
Anne Arundel County Transit
- AACT will not be operating on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th. The following routes will be in service on Friday November 29th: 201, 202 & Gold.
Howard County/Central Maryland RTA
- RTA will not be operating on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will return to a weekday service schedule on Friday, November 29th.
Frederick County TransIt
- FCT will not be operating on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and on Friday, November 29th.
PRTC
- PRTC will not be operating on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will operate on a reduced-service schedule on Friday, November 29th.
Cecil Transit
- 11/25/2021 Thanksgiving Day – No Service
Fairfax Connector
- Fairfax Connector will be operating on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will operate on a reduced-service schedule on Friday, November 29th.
Alexandria DASH
- Ride-On will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will return to a weekday service schedule on Friday, November 29th.
Arlington Transit (ART)
- On Thursday, November 28, ART 41, 42, 45, 51, 55, and 87 will operate on Sunday schedules. All other ART routes will not operate
