DC Metro Area Updates & Service Changes

    DC Metro 

    Advisory Effective: 7/23/18 – 7/27/18

    Highlights

    • Extended Red Line shutdown between NoMa-Gallaudet & Fort Totten. Buses replace train service through September 3, 2018. Service information & travel alternatives
    • All other Metrorail lines will operate every 20-25 minutes from 10:00 p.m. until closing
    • Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East & Ballston beginning at 9:30 p.m.

    Users at stations impacted by these service adjustments are asked to follow Passenger Information Display signs, station announcements or consult a Station Manager for any boarding location changes.

    Red Line 

    Weeknight: No train service to Rhode Island Ave or Brookland

    • Extended Red Line shutdown between NoMa-Gallaudet & Fort Totten. Buses replace train service to Brookland and Rhode Island Ave through September 3, 2018.
    • Consider the Green Line between Fort Totten & Gallery Place to avoid the shuttles buses around the shutdown area.
    • Service information & travel alternatives

    Orange Line 

    Weeknight: Trains every 20-25 minutes

    • Single tracking between McPherson Sq and Smithsonian to allow for installation of cable/communication equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system.

    Silver Line 

    Weeknight: Trains operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston station only

    • Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only to accommodate work on the Blue & Orange lines.
    • Users traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and/or Blue line trains to complete their trip.
    • At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange line trains on the same platform.

    Blue Line

    Weeknight: Trains every 20-25 minutes

    • Single tracking between McPherson Sq and Smithsonian to allow for installation of cable/communication equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system.

    Regular weeknight service


    Green Line 

    Weeknight: Trains every 20-25 minutes

    Single tracking between L’Enfant Plaza and Navy Yard-Ballpark to allow for rail, fastener and tie renewal.
