New 50 cent flat fares are coming to Queensland.
From Monday 5 August for six months, public transport fares will be reduced to a 50 cent flat rate across all zones and modes on the Translink network across Queensland.
This includes all regional buses, and bus, train (excluding Airtrain), ferry, tram and on demand services in South East Queensland.
Services
The 50 cent flat fare applies to all:
- Queensland Rail City Train services (excluding Airtrain)
- buses (excluding dedicated school buses)
- Brisbane City ferries and Southern Moreton Bay Island Ferry
- trams
- on demand services.
Ticketing options
The 50 cent flat rate will apply to all go card, credit/debit card and paper ticket payments.
The SEQ network will remain cashless, but you can use cash to top up your go card at any of our fare machines at bus and train stations, or at our go card retailers.
Concessions and discounts
Off-peak travel discount
The 20% discount on off-peak travel will not apply during this time. All travel across zones and times of day will be a flat rate of 50 cents.
Concessions
The 50% concession fares will not apply during this time. Fares will be a flat 50 cent rate for everyone using public transport.
Seniors
If you’re a Senior Concession Card holder, then you will be able to continue to travel free on Brisbane City Council buses and in the Gold Coast City Council areas during off-peak travel times.
Children
- Children aged five to 14 will still be able to travel free on weekends using their orange child go card.
- Children aged four years old and under will still be able to travel for free at all times.
Frequent journey discounts
The current frequency based discounts such as 8 journeys and half price and One, Two, Free won’t apply during this time.
