We have collected several transit changes that are worth getting to know about Memorial and Independence Day.
Memorial Day Eve, Sunday, May 12th
On the eve of Memorial Day, May 12th, public transportation will operate as usual. Ceremonies will be held throughout the country, during which streets will be closed and stations in many sections will be canceled. During this day, the frequency of bus lines will decrease while bus lines to cemeteries will increase their service.
Memorial Day and Independence Day Eve, Monday, May 13th
🚆 Israel Railways – On Memorial Day and Independence Day eve, Monday, May 13th, 2024, trains will operate according to a regular schedule, with some additional services:
Train 8032 will have an extended route, departing from Be’er Sheva Center station at 10:41 and concluding its journey at Haifa Merkaz HaShmona (instead of Tel Aviv Savidor Center). Extra stops will be made at Tel Aviv University, Herzliya, and all stations in Haifa.
Similarly, Train 8033 will also have an extended route, departing from Haifa Merkaz HaShmona to Be’er Sheva Center station at 12:03 (instead of from Tel Aviv Savidor Center). Additional stops will include all stations in Haifa, Herzliya, and Tel Aviv University.
🚌 Buses – On Memorial Day and Independence Day eve, there will be schedule changes in the service lines and they will end earlier than usual. Some service lines will not operate at all on this day.
Due to events on the eve of Independence Day, main streets throughout the country are expected to be blocked starting the afternoon, and as a result, bus routes will change accordingly.
The Night lines will operate on this day according to the Thursday schedule 🦉.
🚈 The Light Rail – The light rail in Jerusalem and the light rail in Gush Dan (Dankal) will operate on a weekday schedule.
🎇 Independence Day, Tuesday, May 14th
🚆 Israel Railways – As every year, on Independence Day, Tuesday, May 14th, 2024, trains will operate at a frequency of one train per hour.
During the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, trains will operate between Jerusalem and Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv, and Herzliya throughout the night.
🚌 Buses – On Independence Day, the frequency of bus lines will decrease.
🚈 The Light Rail in Jerusalem (Cfir) – On the eve of Independence Day, between the dates 13-14.05.24,Cfir the light rail will operate the train service throughout the night.
There will be a partial service between 11:00 p.m. (5/13/2024) and 3:00 a.m. (5/14/2024)
Between the stations: City Hall station up to Central Station.
Therefore, the train will operate in the following format during the indicated hours:
– From Heil Ha-Avir station to City Hall station and back.
– From Central Station to Mount Herzl station and back.
After that, the light rail will return to operating in full service from the Heil Ha-Avir station to the Herzl station in both directions.
🚈 The Light Rail in Gush Dan (Dankal) – On Independence Day, the frequency of rail services will be reduced..
