We have collected several transit changes that are worth getting to know about Memorial and Independence Day.
Memorial Day Eve, Tuesday, April 29th
On the eve of Memorial Day, April 29th, public transportation will operate as usual. Ceremonies will be held throughout the country, during which streets will be closed and stations in many sections will be canceled. During this day, the frequency of bus lines will decrease while bus lines to cemeteries will increase their service.
Memorial Day and Independence Day Eve, Wednesday, April 30th
🚆 Israel Railways – On Memorial Day and the evening of Independence Day, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, train service will be adjusted as follows:
Train 8032 from Be’er Sheva Center, departing at 10:41, will end at Haifa Merkaz HaShmona Station (instead of Tel Aviv Savidor Center) and will add stops at Tel Aviv University, Herzliya, and all Haifa stations.
Train 8033 will depart from Haifa Merkaz HaShmona to Be’er Sheva Center at 12:03 (instead of from Tel Aviv Savidor Center) and will also add stops at all Haifa stations, Herzliya, and Tel Aviv University.
🚌 Buses – On Memorial Day and Independence Day eve, there will be schedule changes in the service lines and they will end earlier than usual. Some service lines will not operate at all on this day.
Due to events on the eve of Independence Day, main streets throughout the country are expected to be blocked starting the afternoon, and as a result, bus routes will change accordingly.
🚈 The Light Rail in Jerusalem (Cfir) – On Memorial Day, Cfir Light Rail service will be increased toward Mount Herzl between 08:00 and 13:00.
🚈 The Light Rail in Gush Dan (Dankal) – On Wednesday, Independence Day Eve (April 30), the light rail will be running just for you — until 2:00 AM!
🎇 Independence Day, Thursday, May 1st
🚆 Israel Railways – On Independence Day, Thursday, May 1, 2025, train service will operate at a reduced frequency of one train per hour on all lines, except for the Be’er Sheva North–Dimona line, which will operate as usual.
Passengers traveling to or from Sderot, Netivot, and Ofakim will need to transfer trains at Ashkelon Station to continue to their destination.
Passengers traveling between Modi’in and Jerusalem will need to transfer trains at Ben Gurion Airport Station.
🚌 Buses – On Independence Day, the frequency of bus lines will decrease.
🚈 The Light Rail in Jerusalem (Cfir) – In honor of Israel’s 77th Independence Day, the Jerusalem Light Rail will operate special overnight service from Wednesday night to Thursday morning, April 30–May 1, 2025.
Due to police instructions, between 20:30 and 04:00, the light rail will run on a split-service model with two separate routes leading to the city center:
From the north: between Neve Yaakov Station and City Hall Station, From the south: between Central Station and Hadassah Ein Kerem Station (both directions).
🚈 The Light Rail in Gush Dan (Dankal) – On Independence Day, May 1st, the light rail will operate as usual.
