Travel Update

July 2, 2026
    Dublin & Greater Dublin Area
    1. Concerts & Major Local Events

A series of high-profile summer concerts and events are scheduled this weekend, which will significantly increase passenger volumes on specific routes:

    • The Iveagh Gardens: Concert events are taking place throughout the weekend. Expect higher passenger density on the Luas Green Line (Harcourt and Charlemont stops) and central Dublin Bus routes.

    • RDS (Royal Dublin Society): Major events this weekend will see increased footfall around Ballsbridge. Commuters using DART services via Lansdowne Road or Sandymount stations, as well as Dublin Bus routes 4, 7, and 7a, should anticipate busier services.

    2. Dublin Bus & Go-Ahead Ireland
    • Summer Timetables: Please remind users that the pre-planned summer schedules are actively in place. Select Monday–Friday term-time peak departures on high-frequency routes (including the 15, 37, 38, 39, and C-Spine branches) are currently paused for the season.

    • Localised Diversions: Ongoing roadworks continue to affect localised routing, including diversions on Route 6 (Howth Road) and the L26/Route 44 (Kilternan area).

    3. Rail Network (Iarnród Éireann)
    • Night-time Infrastructure Upgrades: Essential track maintenance is scheduled overnight across various sections of the Dublin commuter network, including areas around Ballyfermot/Cherry Orchard, Castleknock, and Coolmine. While these are overnight works designed to minimise disruption, minor scheduling adjustments or brief delays to the final services of the evening may occur.

    Regional Developments & Major Cities

    Cork City & Surrounding Areas

    • Upgrades to Cork Area Commuter Rail (CACR): Night-time signaling and infrastructure upgrades continue along the lines connecting Mallow, Kent Station, and Midleton. No major daytime line closures are scheduled for this weekend, but passengers on late-night commuter links should check timetables for minor adjustments.

    • Regional Bus Eireann: Localised roadworks in Cork and Kerry (including routes 236 and 237 near Drimoleague and Goleen) remain in place with minor stop relocations.

    Western Region (Galway & Mayo)
    • Upcoming Event Notice (Ballina): If your users are traveling toward County Mayo, please note that preparatory security and traffic setups are beginning ahead of the EU Presidency events in Ballina (commencing Sunday 5 July). Minor delays to regional bus connections entering the area should be anticipated toward the end of the weekend.
