KTM Berhad Extends Shuttle Selatan Service to Paloh Station Starting 8 August 2026

August 6, 2026

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has officially announced the extension of its Shuttle Selatan train service up to Paloh Station, effective 8 August 2026.

This service expansion aims to improve accessibility and provide enhanced travel options for commuters, workers, and residents residing in the suburban areas of Johor, while strengthening direct connectivity to major economic hubs, including Johor Bahru Sentral and Singapore.

Key Details of the Service Extension

    • Official Launch Date: 8 August 2026

    • Route Coverage: Paloh (New) ↔ Kluang (New) ↔ Renggam (New) ↔ Layang-Layang (New) ↔ Kulai ↔ Kempas Baru ↔ JB Sentral (7 Stations)

    • Estimated Travel Time: Approximately 120 minutes (Paloh to JB Sentral)

    • Daily Frequency: 5 trips per day (one-way trips)

    Strategic Integration & Economic Connectivity

The route extension aligns with the Ministry of Transport’s initiative to leverage completed sections of the Gemas–Johor Bahru Electrified Double-Tracking Project (PLBEGJB).

In addition to serving main stations such as Kluang and Kulai, the Shuttle Selatan service provides seamless transit integration at Kempas Baru Station to the Pasir Gudang route. This facilitates smooth commuting for industrial workforces between Paloh, Kluang, Pasir Gudang, and JB Sentral, supporting regional industrial growth and key initiatives like the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

    Promotional Fares & Student Initiatives

To celebrate the extended service, KTMB has introduced promotional rates and expanded special travel passes:

    • Promotional One-Way Fare: RM7.70 (Paloh to JB Sentral).

    • MyRailLife Pass: Students aged 4 to 12, secondary school students, and Persons with Disabilities (OKU) registered for the MyRailLife pass can enjoy free travel on the Shuttle Selatan service through 31 December 2026 (subject to terms & conditions).
