Kennington Update

September 3, 2018

Until mid-September, Bank branch trains will not stop at Kennington Tube station and there will be no step-free interchange between the branches at the station. This is while we continue our essential work to build new passageways between the platforms at Kennington Tube station, in preparation for the Northern Line Extension.

    Kennington closure

More frequent, direct trains are running between Morden and the Charing Cross branch. For step-free access, please continue to ensure you board a direct train to your destination.

There will continue to be a slightly reduced service on the Bank branch and the Northern and Victoria lines and some stations are likely to be busier again. Please continue to avoid the busiest times, if you are able to, allow extra time for your journey or use alternative routes

    Busy times

    From the Bank branch

During the work, there is a slightly reduced service on the Bank branch and stations are likely to be busier.

Trains run approximately every 2-3 minutes during peak times and approximately every 3-4 minutes during off-peak times.

For Kennington station, go to Elephant & Castle or Oval for local buses, cycling and walking routes.

    Alternatively, for Kennington:

    From the Charing Cross branch

During the work, Charing Cross branch trains are running to and from Morden approximately every 10 minutes throughout the day. Check for train times by planning your journey. Platforms, particularly at Kennington, are likely to be busier, especially during the evening peak.
