π‘οΈ 1. Extreme Heat Infrastructure Impacts (Today 9 July)
London Underground: Several lines are experiencing rolling delays due to heat-related fleet and signaling failures. Central, Piccadilly, and Bakerloo lines are particularly vulnerable to extreme platform temperatures.
National Rail (South East): Severe delays and short-notice cancellations are expected across all major commuter lines, including Southern, Southeastern, South Western Railway, and Great Western Railway. Speed restrictions will remain in place until ambient temperatures drop this evening.
π 2. National Rail Industrial Action
National rail travel will remain heavily compromised through the weekend due to coordinated union strike action.
Service Reduction: A severely reduced timetable is in operation across the entire South East network. Many lines will have no service at all, and operating hours on active routes will be strictly limited (typically between 07:30 and 18:30).
Elizabeth Line & London Overground: While TfL staff are not on strike, these services will face severe, cascading disruptions where they share tracks with disrupted National Rail lines.

District Line: No service will operate between Earl’s Court and Wimbledon on Saturday 11 July and Sunday 12 July due to planned track renewals. Replacement buses will be operational but face heavy surface traffic.
