    Severe weather is forecast to affect parts of England & Wales today – Major Disruption at London Paddington

    Severe weather to impact Southern, Gatwick Express, Great Northern and Thameslink services until the end of 2 January

    Across the Southern, Gatwick Express, Great Northern and Thameslink network

    Details:

    Forecast severe weather today will impact a number of Southern, Gatwick Express, Great Northern and Thameslink routes. Most routes will be disrupted. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised.

    Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

    Customer advice:

    Do NOT travel on Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink services until further notice this evening.

    Some Great Northern routes will also be disrupted.

    Any alternative travel options are not guaranteed.

    A number of weather related incidents means trains are unable to run across multiple routes, mainly south of London. Other areas may also be affected.

    Trains are likely to be cancelled or revised to only complete parts of their normal journeys.

    Your journey is likely to take at least 90 minutes longer than usual.

    Please check station information screens and listen to announcements for advice when travelling.

     

    Lines reopened: Major disruption between London Paddington and Reading / Heathrow expected until 22:00 on 2 January

    Description

    Lines have reopened following a failure of the electricity supply between London Paddington and Maidenhead. Trains may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

    Major disruption is expected until 22:00.

    Customer Advice for Elizabeth line:

    You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following:

    • London Underground via any reasonable route

    • Local buses between London Paddington and Heathrow / Reading

    • South Western Railway between Windsor and London

    • Great Western Railway between London Paddington and Reading

    • Thameslink between Abbey Wood and Farringdon

    • Southeastern between Abbey Wood and London Terminals

    • Docklands Light Railway via any reasonable route
